We stayed at the Pacific Rim for 5 nights in between a cruise and a trip to Whistler and received from inception first class service. Breakfast at Oru restaurant in the hotel is a must - pricey but definitely worthwhile! Rishma the assistant manager and Jackie(ey?) the waitress really attentive and made us feel really special.

We've stayed many places in Vancouver - a city with great service and great hotels overall. Fairmont Pacific Rim is our favorite, and as we see it one of the very best city hotels in the world. Where to start. The food is outstanding. Oru is terrific for breakfast and dinner. The sushi bar and the creative rolls they work up are flawless and Fairmont cocktails never disappoint. The whole pool deck and spa create a huge resort-like feeling with plenty of space to spread out. Take your kids to the pool and get some sun and a snack, or for totally the opposite head to the spa's sun deck to rad a book and for some peace and quiet. The location is unbeatable - Coal Harbor is our favorite part of the city to stay in. The people are amazing, every aspect of everything everyone did for us was literally perfect. They are always seeking ways to improver. For example, between out 2013 summer stay and our 2014 summer stay, they acquired a bunch of options in the bike loaner program for kids. They now have kids bikes that attach to the back of the parent's bike, and little buggies for infants. We were able to make it all the way around Stanley with Mom, Dad and girls 8, 5 and 11 months. What a huge thing to make happen for us - and all for no charge. This place is a gem in every way.

Prepare to be impressed. The service is excellent - right from the bellman at the front. The rooms are terrific - very comfortable and everything you need has been thought of in advance. The main lobby is always a beehive of activity and if you can get a seat near the fireplace the setting is wonderful.

We stayed at the Fairmont for the Lululemon Seawheeze 1/2 marathon in August. The hotel was very modern, hip, and clean. I was impressed with their menu and their notated gluten free items as I am gluten free. They also serve cold, fresh presses green juice at breakfast upon request, which was delicious! We will be staying there next year again for the race.

One might expect a hotel of this "quality' to inform their guests that every night of their stay, they'll be subjected to excessively loud "music". But not here at the pacific rim. Do not expect rest and relaxation-even on a Sunday night, well after midnight. If the management cared anything about the guests not attending these loud functions, they would have built their event rooms using soundrock, rather than plain Sheetrock and utilized additional methods to reduce the nuisance. Clearly the management does not care enough to at the very minimum, warm their guests ahead of time that after checking in, they will not be provided any peace and quiet to be able to sleep.
Best to enjoy the restaurants and bars here. Absolutely book your wedding reception or any event where you'll be a priority in making as much noise as one can make! But definitely, avoid staying at this hotel if you expect to get any rest, or relaxation.

Room Tip: Ensure you're not on the pool level by the private elevators as this area shakes when the loud m...

I can't believe it has been 4 years since I last visited the Willow Stream Spa - and now I'm kicking myself for not having frequented the Fairmont Pacific Rim more often. Aside from their amazing restaurants like Oru with culinary delights that always please, street-facing Cafe Giovane, this hotel's staff has always been consistent in their professionalism, and clear zest for customer service. I've stayed at this property and dined a few times, but after the amazing RMT (one of the best I've ever had) and treatments at Willow Stream this past Friday, I will no doubt be back more often.

Room Tip: Whether you're facing the water, mountains, or street, the views from the hotel are all terrific...

What a hotel! So many luxury hotels in downtown areas of major cities are cramped, outdated, and don't have the amenities that you'd get where there is space to have resorts. But the Fairmont Pacific Rim is truly a city resort. It was built only 4 years ago and it has a fantastic location. Highlights: A huge pool with gorgeous views over the lovely Civic Center, Olympic torch, and harbor; an enormous (and excellent) spa with its own outdoor deck with 2 very private hot tubs, loungers, and fire pits; excellent service; complimentary cars that will take you around the downtown area, and a lot more. I was upgraded to a beautiful room on a high floor (14th I think?) that overlooked the pool, harbor, and mountains. The tv in the bathroom mirror was really handy for watching the news or weather report while prepping in the morning - or even watching a movie while I took a bath. The restaurant ORU was only okay for dinner, but I had their world-class buffet breakfast every morning and am still dreaming of the sugar buns they served, along with custom egg-white omelets with goat cheese and local smoked arctic char with wonderful coffee. The concierges were very helpful and offered me excellent tips (BTW I fell in the love with the Mt Pleasant / South Main area for indie shopping - great food, design stores, women's accessories and clothing, etc.). The ONLY thing that I didn't enjoy in my 5 days there was that the lobby bar turned into a high-roller nightclub on Friday night. It was so loud and crowded with women in 4-inch heels and men in suits that I had to scream at the front-desk person just to ask for something. The lobby bar is open-air and therefore there's no way to contain the noise and crowds of the weekend scene. Going in and out was frustrating. One suggestions is that they could open up a quiet area on weekend nights for guests who want peace or to check in quietly. They could use the side entrance so that regular guests didn't have to elbow aside nightclub-goers.

All in the all though, this hotel is an A+ and I look forward to staying in Fairmonts any chance I can get. I should have stayed at one of the Fairmonts in Seattle, where I went after Vancouver! My kudos to all the staff for a very high level of hospitality and comfort. I booked with my AmEx Platinum which gives you call kinds of perks - I'd highly recommend.

Room Tip: Go as high as you can when staying on a weekend. Rooms with harbor views are gorgeous.
