I had a standard king room -- I was amazed. The room was incredibly spacious, well appointed, modern, and beautiful. Huge large screen TV and very roomy workspace. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful with both a rain shower and a hand held shower. Lots of towels and nice toiletries. Great restaurant. Terrific location. The staff were all wonderfully helpful -- I cannot praise these folks enough-- thank you for a wonderful stay.

The rooms were as high tech, yet with a warmth, that i have ever stayed in. Each light switch had 3 setting choices and the mirror in the bathroom contained a hidden tv when you activated it......sounds shallow but it was a very comfortable and spacious room
The food is good quality but not so kid friendly. The pool is a lovely setting but the changing rooms are just missing as was anybody to serve drinks in the pool bar.
The internet was a rip off !!

I usually try to avoid a large hotel. But this one was a large hotel, and I relised why I avoided large hotels while I was waiting for our rooms to be ready after the check-in time. As I was so busy before the trip and I did not do any homework on the city, I used the concierge a lot. All the concierge were very helpful except one. She was the most allogant one I have ever met. She was on the phone for 5 minutes at least without even acknowledging. OK, she probably was helping other customers on the phone, but it was more like a business call. Waited, and waited, and she finally finished and asked me as if I was bothering her busy schedule if I have a question. And her answers were made up with one or two words. I wanted to know if I needed to take a taxi to Aquarium. She said yes. Can I work. Yes. Is it far? Yes. How far? About 40 minutes. Is there a bus? No. It is amazing that the hotel like this can afford to keep her as a staff to inteface the guests, Economy must be good in Vancouver enough to keep the bad staff. With one of the 2 rooms not being ready after the check-in time and this, I complained to the front staff. She was very quickly found another room for us, and the complaint was communicated to the manager. I know the manager tried to contact me but it was my faults not to get back to the manager.
The rooms were very nice, quiet, and the TV in the bathroom was the best thing for my son. There were a couple of things that needed to be attended, and they were handled quickly and professionally.
Although pets are allowed, no pets over 20lbs are not accepted. So this is not a pet friednly hotel. Recent UPENN Vet school research found that the dachshund and chi were too most aggressive breeds and they are both 20 lbs.
The service was superb oherwise, and it is so sad that one bad apple can ruin the overall hotel impression. Will I come back? I probably would, but I would stay away from the concierge desk if she was there!!

stayed for more than 2 weeks recently and was extremely happy with the hotel overall. Large rooms, great lounge/bar and more importantly absolutely great staff all over the hotel. Was greeted with a smile and a hello everyday by staff all over the hotel, and everyone was more than helpful with any requirements. Of course anyone will ask what about the negatives; late night room service menu very limited - even staff agreed with me (even won a bet with reception staff that there wasn't even a burger on the menu), $30something per day for parking and $20something per day for internet is quite upsetting.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a pool room suite which was very spacious and had 2 patios leading out to the pool - these had outdoor fireplaces as well - we had great weather though so no need to use them.. 2 Rooms - master bedroom with large bathroom and then large sitting room with dining area. This had a sofa bed for the children in the evening and they also had an additional shower room with toilet. Separate small kitchen with a huge fridge and Nespresso machine. The hotel is new and so well decorated and with lots of gadgets in the room - including a TV in the mirror in the bathroom. Breakfast buffet is good and there is also a cafe on the ground floor.
There was an English concierge from Northampton who gave us really good advice re which sightseeing company to use and getting around.
I have stayed at the Fairmont Vancouver before and that is also nice - more grand older style - however I would definitely stay at the Pacific Rim again and would not hesitate to recommend it to families and business travellers - it is right opposite the convention centre

Loved our stay at the Fairmont Pacific Rim! We stayed on the Gold floor which offered some of the best service, an excellent lounge (overlooking the harbor), and nicely appointed (even if a bit small) rooms. The hotel pool was a highlight for the kids and had a consistent depth that my five year old could handle on her own. The location provides amazing views and easy access to much of Vancouver. The combination of friendly service, a newer property and excellent location makes this hotel an easy recommendation.. If the added personal touch and easy access to an excellent good food and beverage service is of value to you consider the Gold floor.

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The service was great. The room was huge with a gorgeous view of the bay and mountains; the king sized bed dreamlike. All the controls were electronic - even the motorized drapes. A motion sensor turns on the lights when you wake up. There was a 42" flat screen in the bedroom, and the bathroom had an 'electronic mirror' - in the center of the bathroom mirror there was a slightly darker mirror space, which, when you clicked the remote, became a flat screen TV. There were separate tub and shower, and the shower had a rain head and a handshower head which could work simultaneously. WiFi is free to fairmont members - so sign up and get a number before you go. Breakfast, expensive but wonderful (try the candied smoked salmon). The heated, outdoor lap pool was spectacular. There is also a fitness area and spa which I didn't try. I am looking for an excuse to return to Vancouver!
