“Almost but not quite ideal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

Cannot beat the location. Right off Stanley Park and an easy walk ( 1 mile) to Canada Place, Gastown, etc. Plus they are a stop on the Hop On, Hop Off Bus which is a good tour. Bike rentals are only a couple blocks away.. Great room views from the bay side and rooms themselves are typical Westin - nicely appointed, very comfortable beds, and modern bathrooms. Service was excellent and very friendly from front desk to concierge to bell hops. All that said, there are only a few minor quibbles. The lobby, while open and airy, is a bit impersonal and not particularly inviting. It would be nice to have a good seating area. The adjoining Seawall Restaurant and Bar is not recommended either for food or service. The breakfast buffet is very expensive and not worth the price. Fortunately a Starbucks is on premises and provides a much more cost effective solution for breakfast.
Overall, I would stay here again, While it is not a hotel to hang around or linger in, it is a great place to stay.

This hotel is in a great location if you want close proximity to Stanley Park and the waterfront. It is a large, busy, hotel. We stayed in the tower with harbor views; the room was fantastic; large and comfortable with a nice balcony to watch the seaplanes from.

We did have issues at check in. The hotel was very crowded and although we checked in at around 5 pm our room was not ready. The front desk clerk gladly offered a small restaurant credit while we waited, and when it still wasn't ready an hour later, he threw in free parking which really took the sting out of it. It appeared that the maids were just not able to keep up with the volume of rooms as they would not be done cleaning the rooms until very late in the day. Several times we came back at 3 or 4 pm and the room had still not been cleaned. However when we commented about this to the front desk they made sure from there on out that the maid came earlier for us.

Another pet peeve many guests had, was the $15/day internet charge. Seems like for the prices they charge for the rooms, they should throw that in for free.

Overall a very good experience and I will return there when I come back to Vancouver.

Room Tip: Choose a tower room facing the harbor.

The best part about this hotel is the location if you want to get away from being directly downtown. It is located right on the water and some rooms I imagine have great views. We unfortunately were on the 2nd floor, so our view was part of the roof of the lobby. We hardly spent any time in our room, except to sleep, so that wasn't an issue. Stanley Park and the Seawall are located right by the hotel. The aquarium is right in Stanley Park and walking distance. There are also a few beaches and a kids splash pad close by. Downtown is easily within walking distance for restaurants and shopping. There is a VERY good restaurant next door called Carderos which I highly recommend. The rooms were nice. I LOVED the bathroom the best. It was long, there was a closet in there and the shower head was one of the waterfall fixtures! It was amazing! The door to the bathroom was sliding instead of a regular door. It was just neat! The staff at the hotel is super friendly and nice. There is however a downfall to this hotel. The WIFI. It is not included in the rate and is $14.95/day. We decided to get it for a day and it was spotty and didn't work all the time. They do however offer free WIFI in the lobby only. There are many people congregating on the plentiful chairs and sofa using their phones and laptops. Another really neat thing about the hotel is you have the option to be 'green' meaning you skip housekeeping (towels/linen change). They will slide a $5.00 Starbucks voucher under the door for you to use and Starbucks is located in the hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up for a better view

Our reservation had been fouled up by the agent and we were not registered. They were very kind and found us a room for one night only. This was the holiday weekend and there were massive fireworks so most of the downtown area was booked up. They tried to find us another option for the second night and eventually offered to give us free internet so we could search. Very comfortable bed, clean room, and wonderful amenities. Paying rack rate made it pretty expensive.

My husband and I just returned after spending 3 nights at the Westin Bayshore. This hotel is in a great location, the views from the room are spectacular. It was easy to walk to the downtown area and there are some really good restaurants in walking distance. We rented bikes from Spokes which was a couple blocks away and enjoyed riding around the Seawall and Stanley Park. There are lots of places nearby to eat breakfast if you don't want to spend the money on the buffet at the hotel restaurant. There is also a Starbucks in the lobby as another option. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would like to give a "shout out" to Ayla, one of the concierges, she gave us quite a few recommendations for excellent restaurants and she was always very patient, even when there was a long line of people waiting to ask her advice. She certainly helped make our stay enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity to return to Vancouver, which I hope we will!

This was our second time at the Westin Bayshore prior to an Alaskan cruise. Wonderful location and views of the waterfront from our hotel room. The staff are always friendly and we were there on Canada Day! Will stay here the next time we are in the great city of Vancouver!

We stayed for 2 nights for a stayover in Vancouver. Location is great if you like the marina, boats, the sea, and sea planes. View is fantastic! With a short walk you are in Vancouver downtown. However, we stayed in the lower part of the hotel; the building is quite old and hasn't been rennovated lately. The attached tower is newer and much nicer. Hotel staff were great.
