“Fun Half Day”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

I was told that when in Vancouver a visit to Granville Island is a must. It is.

Granville Island is not unlike Pike’s Market in Seattle, a shopping haven of affordable fruits, vegetables, fish, meats, desserts, pastries, flowers, chocolates, art, crafts, food and much more. All the public market booths are indoors and one whole end of the market is devoted to an ethnically diverse food court. The market is BUSY and there are a lot of people in one big building (so if you can’t handle crowds, this may not be a place for you). Also, if you plan to spend some time eating lunch in the market it takes quite a bit of time finding a table to sit on (after about 15 mins of searching for a seat we just found a bench and used it as a table).

It is very neat seeing all the different things that the locals have to offer regarding crafts and produce. Highly recommended half a day outing.

“Fantastic Morning”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We walked from our downtown hotel to catch the ferry that took us across to Granville Island. It took about 20-25 minutes including the ferry ride. Get there early (about 10 am) to avoid the lunch time crowds. We went through the whole market so that when it was lunch time we knew exactly what we were going to purchase and where we were going to sit. This market reminds me of the Reading Terminal market in Philly. There are so many things that one could buy - things for locals and things for tourists. After lunch we checked out all the shops outside of the market. Do make time to come to Granville Market as it is a Vancouver gem.

“Excellent”

This a great place to shop, people watch and eat. The markets are great and well priced, interesting shops with everything made in the area or local. There are plenty of restaurants but I prefer to buy something in the markets, then sit and watch the world go by especially in a good day. You can catch the aquabus which is a great way to get there. Highly recommend

“Nice attraction”

I wish I was able to spend a bit more time there but it was nice. I would've liked a bit more shopping but the market was pretty cool.

“A fun half or full day-trip”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Granville Island is more of a peninsula than an island, so travellers may find it more cost effective to take a taxi in than to pay for the ferry through the bay. That said the ferry is a hoot.

The crafters and artisans have a ton of gorgeous bibs and bobs for sale - there is an endless number of vendors and their wares vary from jewelry to first nations art to clothing and scarves and carvings!

There is an excited air of friendliness and warmth here among the vendors.

The fresh fish and produce is wonderful, too, and there are numerous places where you can get a great bite to eat.

The free street entertainment is really enjoyable and high quality - from magicians to musicians you will find yourself well-entertained!

Loved the art galleries and local artisan displays. There was so much to see here and do. It was a lovely day trip.
