“very good choice”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

The rooms are a bit dated, but clean and adequately sized. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is very well - placed: on Robson (noise not an issue) in downtown and within easy walking distance of Stanley Park

Room Tip: higher up, better

We have stayed for 10 nights in this hotel and on all counts we have been very impressed. The room was very spacious and from the 4th floor we had a view onto Robson Street and between the buildings a view to the sea. Views wouldn't be as good lower down. We were lucky to have our breakfast included as the restaurant was being renovated. The breakfast was great quality and the staff were friendly. Each morning we were treated with complimentary coffee delivered to our room at a time we indicated:)
The location is great for shopping, 2 km walk to Stanley Park, many public buses, lots of restaurants to cater for all budgets.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Vancouver for a short or extended stay for its excellent location, value for money and great service.
The art theme throughout the hotel was refreshing.

This hotel is rated a 4 star hotel and should be listed s a 2. The rooms were not nice at all. Everything from stained carpet, dated/chipped furniture, torn wall paper, chipped paint, and actual blood and boogers on the wall next to the night stand. Furthermore, there was no bar, restaurant, or room service. When you pull up their website you see an entirely different picture....of course. My wife and I would have been better off at Motel 6....really. It was that bad.

The staff was extremely nice, however. They did offer us free parking for the two nights and 2 breakfast vouchers. Even with that I would have much rather got what I paid for. Spending $150 per night and getting this value, isn't what I paid for.

Room Tip: Verify that the hotel is under refurbishment before booking. They won't offer that up until you...

Found this on the internet, booked one night prior to our cruise. Well worth it. Very nice staff, rooms, great location (near shopping, restaurants, the harbor).

The regular restaurant was closed for remodeling so they provided us a WONDERFUL complimentary breakfast in the morning- buffet style. It was an unexpected treat.

There were A LOT of environmentally friendly practices in this hotel which thrilled my college age children.

I'd give them 4.5 if I could and I would highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 3 nights to do some shopping before we head home after traveling through canada for 3 weeks. I loved it. We stayed on the 6th floor, which had a huuuuge bed, and the room was huge too, and we had a view over the busy street and a peek in the harbor! It was close to stanley park and all the shopping we wanted to do. Breakfast in the morning was just perfect, so much choice! And the staff was very friendly. Everything i want in a city hotel. I took one star off because there was no shower cap and stuff like that provided, also the soaps came from a dispenser in a shower which i do not find very hygienic. But thats the only *downpoint*. Everyone i encountered in the hotel said hi and was very friendly. I would def. stay again.

We stayed at the Listel early August and found the hotel, without being too busy, to be super conveniently located within walking distance to the major attractions such as the Canada Place, Stanley Park, Granville Island, Yaletown and even Chinatown (just make sure to go down Pender and avoid Hastings unless you want a reality check about poverty in Canada). The hotel itself was very clean and quiet. We were on the second floor looking onto a residential street in the back and were never bothered by noise or traffic. Staff was extremely helpful, from allowing us to check in way early in the morning upon our arrival to being at our door in a flash when the Internet and Cable went out. The free daily breakfast buffet was delicious, great food selection, good coffee and the fluffiest pancakes ever. The only low point during our stay was the gym equipment which was quite old but the workout area was well ventilated and clean. Overall, I'd highly recommend the Listel.
And if you're looking to enjoy ramen and exquisite broth, head north to Denman street and look for Motomachi Shokudo. For great but cheap sushi, walk a few blocks north to Bidwell Street and look for Momo Sushi. Enjoy your stay in Vancouver!

We stayed at the Listel Hotel (Robson St.) in Vancouver from August 27-31, 2012, selecting this hotel because it was “luxurious” according to a major guidebook. We found the hotel to be quite shabby and in need of renovation, beginning with the dark unappealing entrance and sparse uninviting lobby. The rugs are in terrible shape, including the one in our room, which had a musty odor. The bed was lumpy and the bathroom needed a good in-depth cleaning. Actually, daily cleaning could have improved since I saw the same bits of paper on the floor throughout our stay. The guidebook also claimed that the hotel had a restaurant and bar but they were under renovation, and we were not told this when we made the reservation (lesson learned). The air/heating system was so loud you had to turn it off in order to sleep. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it had a good location. The pricing was ridiculously high give the lack of amenities and poor ambiance. I definitely would not stay there again.
