“Good location”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

The hotel is on the robson street which has got lots of shops, restaurants etc. Walking distance to supermarket and harbour
Room was very spacious and clean. Bed wasn't too shoft and there was quite a lot of noise coming in from the street at night. Decor was little dated as well.
If you want affordable accommodation then this is it, you get what you pay for, no extras.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room

We had two double beds, staggered layout so a little privacy), a couple of easy chairs, dining table and chairs, kitchenette and bathroom and flat screen TV and v small balcony. Suited us very well (parents with 18 yr old son)

Room Tip: There was some noise from people coming back late and the street - price you pay for being so centra...

I recently spent five nights at the Riviera with my husband and two year old and was very happy with the hotel. The room was bright and spacious on the 10th floor. It was great to have the separate bedroom so we could do things while our baby slept - the bathroom is also separate from the bedroom so we didn't have to disturb her at all! The location is great, close to supermarkets and restaurants, stanley park, the waterfront and downtown. I was a little worried due to the mixed reviews I read before our stay but our experience was great. It's not a fancy hotel, but it's clean and functional and I was very pleased.

Stayed here for 3 nights enroute to cruise ship. Excellent location, hop-on/hop-off city bus tour stop right across the street. Robson has loads of restaurants, and just a few blocks to Whole Foods and a Safeway. Riviera - I booked a queen one-bedroom suite - newly renovated, really clean, spacious - great to have the kitchen for light snacking/dining. Lots of space for the 2 of us. Nice linens on bed. A bit noisy from the street - but not a problem. WiFi included so all the basics/necessities of home. Sam at Front Desk was helpful. The Owner chatted with us and gave several restaurant recommendations. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Prob. better to get a higher floor to cut out street noise.

I stayed here for 5 days in Febraury with my sister and our 4 children during a weekend trip to Vancouver. We took the kids to all the fun attractions and walked all over downtown. The kids loved staying so close to the Park and the pretty lights.

Check in was great, free underground parking was included, which is a plus in downtown Vancouver. The parking garage (and getting down there) is kinda weird and a bit under maintained) but we managed well enough. It kept the car safe enough and that is all that matters. One thing, the lights in the stairwell down were burnt out and it was crowded with empty bottles which could be a hazard.

The elevator is SLOW. and when I mean slow, I mean slow. I could have been up to my room and back down in the time it took it to arrive. The wifi for us was good. Kids played their computer/ip[od games without a hitch. No problems at all. The front desk was super helpful at all times.

The room itself was great with a super view. The suite we had was exactly what we needed to be able to save money by cooking in once in awhile, especially breakfast. Safeway is only about 4blocks walk away. There is a cab stop right across the street for anyone needing a taxi quick, just walk outside.

The bed was a bit hard, in my opinion. And there was a dip in the one side. The pull out bed was actually not too bad. We had hot water enough for everyone to bathe/shower each morning, which was a plus.

We could hear our neighbors having a bit of a party one night. Good thing we like electronic music! Since it was keeping up the kids after midnight, we asked them to turn it down a notch and they complied. Perfectly respectable. Since this was a vacation for the kids, it just added to the experience of "the city" since we are from a smaller northern town. The kids were dancing like it was in our room for awhile before bed around 10/

The sky train is a ways away, if you were thinking on taking it anywhere. No more than 15mins walk up a slight incline for a ways.

We are an easy going family and not much bugs us unless it is a major concern. We are pleased to say we would be back again. and maybe again after that.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back corner are quieter and have views of the mountains!

Grandparents traveling with teenage grandchild. This is our favorite neighborhood in Vancouver, so much happening on the street, lots of multicultural choices. We got exactly what we wanted at the Riviera, a large clean room with a full kitchen. Wifi was perfect for us our whole stay, the best I've ever had in a hotel. The room has been recently updated, plumbing in particular was very nice.

We especially enjoyed our room on the street side of the building, we got sunlight from sunrise to sunset, and even when it was cloudy, the room was full of light. Of course, it was noisier on this side, so you have to choose what is important to you. We had no complaints about this hotel, for the price it can't be beat. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is a 3 star and the rating is appropriate. The compact room had everything necessary and a nice flatscreen tv, but was not very sound proof. The level of cleanliness in the room was just about acceptable. The location is excellent if you are wanting to be downtown. The WiFi was a real let down. It rarely worked for longer than 15 minutes and I had trouble sending emails, or doing anything on line. The blinds didn't cover the windows completely so I had to do everything in the ridiculously small bathroom. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The price is great and there is parking on site.
