“Nice hotel, nice room and great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2011

This hotel is slightly more expensive than what I spend when travelling for pleasure. It's a wonderful hotel and a great location. Staff were very helpful and everything went on without a glitch.

All the rooms are suites, but this seemed like an afterthought for this hotel, not a design concept.

The bedroom is too small to navigate, and all the dressers for it are in the living room. It's as if they just put a wall up in a space that used to be one room. The living room has the couch and TV, and the bedroom is just a bed and two tiny closets, and all these doors. There are so many doors that one is always in the way of something. The bathroom door, two small closets, and the bedroom door to the living room make the small space awkward and uncomfortable.

There are many lights in the room, and each one is on a separate power and needs to be turned on manually. They can also be toggled manually and controlled by a main switchc by the front door. However, there is an unlabeled light switch next to the thermostat that for some reason is connected to the power outlets on the work desk. Our phones didn't get charged because when we shut off all the lights this shut off our power all night. I did mention this to the front desk and they said that wasn't correct and would be looked into. Not while we were there...

The bathroom has a shower door. Again, a door in the way of the door to the bedroom. The light switch is tucked too far back to be useful. The sink stopper didn't work; it just fell instead of locking in position.

Finally, the elevator situation was annoying. There needs to be a card reader on each side of the elevator. Plus, hotel key cards would stop working in the readers after 2 days and we needed to get new ones. Apparently several other guests we ran into on the elevators were having the same problem.

All in all the functionality was so distracting and made it so difficult to work here I wouldn't stay here again.

Dear mrsxique,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We are disappointed to see that you were not happy with your suite. We have a large variety of suites and layouts and do our best to maximize the space in each one. On your next visit we would be happy to help you select a suite configuration that works best for you, as we certainly understand how important functionality is on business trips. Also, you’ll be pleased to know that our elevators no longer require key card access throughout the day for ease of use. We truly hope we can welcome you back on your next visit to Vancouver, and invite you to contact us at guestexperienceteam@westingrandvancouver.com so we can personally ensure you have a renewing stay.

Best Regards,
The Westin Grand Guest Experience Team

The worst thing I can say about this hotel is that it needs more elevators. Seems minor until you are there!

We booked a deluxe suite and it was a touch small for 4 people, but its downtown so we expected that. It would have been fine if we hadn't of kept the pullout bed open. We found the mini kitchen to be very convenient since we were travelling with kids. It was well stocked and had a dishwasher.

For some reason, they set this room for 3 people the entire 3 nights we were there, yet we had reserved for 4. Each night we had to ask for more towels. You'd think they'd figure it out eventually.

The movie channel played movies that are still in theater ($17) I thought that was kind of cool.

We didn't use the pool, but they had some sort of pool party on Sunday afternoons that is for the single 20 somethings of downtown. We went to the suspension bridge instead. To the hotel's credit, they have a plan B for kids. They offered to pay for a cab to go to another Westin to use the pool. I guess the pool party is not G rated. Sounds like fun!

There is a grocery store and a liquor store withing a block of the hotel, which was great for us.

We ate at their restaurant that has a tapas menu and we really enjoyed. My husband is all about big steak dinners and he was pleased with how substantial a tapas menu can be.

Everyone speaks of the great location, they are correct.

It was kind of picey, but it suited our needs, so we got our money's worth.

We stayed at the Westin Grand for our 4th wedding anniversary. It was our first trip to Vancouver and everything about our stay was perfect. We were upgraded to a view room on the 28th floor and had welcome chocolate dipped strawberries delivered to our room on our arrival. The gym and pool area were wonderful, clean and modern. The staff was friendly and courteous. The location was unbeatable. We would definitely stay there again, and highly recommend this hotel for Vancouver visitors.

We enjoyed our stay at the Westin Grand in Vancouver. This hotel in located on trendy Robson street in the downtown area. Pretty much anything downtown is within walking distance. We walked to Stanley Park as well, which was a good distance but still a pleasant walk. The hotel consierge Lisa made our stay extra special, as she was most helpful with tips on dining, tourist attractions etc. The room was spacious and comfortable, the rooftop pool and hot tub relaxing and tastefully located. The service at this hotel was great, and I would highly reccommend the Westin Grand.

Room Tip: room was comfortable with a great view!

The location of this hotel is perfect for those who want to be close to the heart of downtown Vancouver. It is right on Robson St. and walking distance to other major sites.
We were in a 1 BR suite which was spacious enough for 2 people. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom size was good as well. The only thing I noticed is that it takes so long for the elevators to reach your floor especially when it's check-out time but other times of the day was okay.

We loved Vancouver and will defnitely stay at this hotel again!

My husband and I visited Vancouver for 3 days to attend his cousin's wedding. This is the perfect hotel if you prefer to walk to some of Vancouver's main attractions. We rented a bike from Spokes (corner of Denman and West Georgia) and biked around Stanley Park (currently #1 in the list of must-see things in tripadvisor.com).
The hotel itself is smaller than its sister hotel, Westin Bayshore but what it lacks in size, it makes up for with its central location. The buffet breakfast is good [lives up to the Westin standard]. We would return to Westin Grand should we find ourselves in the beautiful city of Vancouver again!
