“Can’t wait to go back!”
Reviewed 22 July 2013 via mobile

To celebrate our anniversary, I decided to plan a getaway to the Wedgewood with my husband. I even booked a couples massage for us. What a great discovery!!

The fabrics in our guestroom were rich and colourful and the amazing canopied bed was a true delight. The boutique spa exuded elegance & luxury. Before and after our massage which was heavenly in a candle-lit treatment room, we were offered refreshments and fruits in the Spa’s brand new salon, surrounded by beautiful orchid arrangements, comfortable sofas and soothing music. Their amazing eucalyptus steam room was the perfect finale to our Spa experience! It was so relaxing that it was difficult to get ourselves ready for our dinner reservation in Bacchus.

One of our most romantic dinners - the candle-lit room, the soft piano music and the great food. We haven’t stopped talking about it to our friends, and we will definitely be back for more spoiling!

We stayed here last September while I was here on business (my hosts booked me here and picked up the tab) and we loved it. So when I had to return to Vancouver for a large congress I went outside the congress' hotel block and booked this separately. Although this isn't cheap it's a lot nicer and the same price as the more famous Fairmonts, Pan Pacific and others. Great location across the street from the Vancouver Art Museum, terrific restaurants in walking distance. Room was large and incredibly quiet (even though we had a neighbor who seemed to be having a loud party next door we only heard them in the hall, not in the room). Service is very personal. Will definitely stay here again. Wifi and breakfast are free. Wifi could be faster.

First let me start off by saying this is one of the few hotels in Vancouver that fit four people comfortably (Or at all) in one room. This automatically earns this hotel five stars. Everything else about this hotel was perfect. The staff at the front desk and bellhops went out of there way to be friendly and helpful. A special shout-out to Kirby is in order, I can not thank him enough for what he did for us. This hotel has fourteen floors, but it is very cozy considering each floor only has eight rooms. The rooms were in perfect condition, everything was spotless. The beds were comfortable, and the WiFi was surprisingly fast. The room maids were very friendly, and every night at turn-down service we received water bottles and some delicious chocolates/cookies. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay and this would be my only choice to stay in Vancouver.

The Wedgewood is a great choice for a central location in Vancouver – lovely boutique hotel and restaurant, within walking distance of all the downtown sights, excellent service, and a good value compared to other high-end hotels in the area. Not only are the rooms more reasonably priced, but the valet parking is $25/day rather than the $40+ I found elsewhere. All the rooms have balconies. There is a small but well-equipped gym and spa. Starbucks next door. The only amenities it lacks are a pool and a view of the water.

We arrived early afternoon and our room wasn’t quite ready, so we had tea at a windowside table in the restaurant, Bacchus, which was perfect. They informed us when the room was ready, and our bags had already been taken upstairs. We received a box of artisan chocolates as a welcome. Each evening, turndown service also included a pair of freshly baked cookies, and bottled water. They even cleaned our car windshield after we suffered a massive bird attack :-).

Do be sure to ask for a room on the front side of the hotel, facing Hornby. We booked a junior suite, which faces (north)west, and on the 6th floor we were below the top of the building across the alley so it felt like we were in a dim hole, looking out at power lines and walls, rather than the sunny “west-facing city view” I was expecting. I called to ask whether we were indeed facing west, and if perhaps there was something higher up available, but perhaps didn’t push it hard enough as we weren’t offered another choice – this was perhaps the only lapse in otherwise great service. However, after being awakened at 5:30 a.m. by the loud banging of trash bins in the alley, which repeated several times throughout the morning, my husband went downstairs to see about moving. We upgraded to a deluxe suite on the 11th floor, overlooking Robson Square gardens, waterfall and art museum, which was delightful. Both rooms were beautifully appointed and had identical marble bathrooms with plenty of counter space. Lots of closet and drawer space, and very comfortable beds.

I would highly recommend the Wedgewood. From the list of room types they offer, I might consider an Executive Queen (west-facing but on the top 3 floors, so noise might be less and at least you would have an ok city view), Deluxe Executive (the majority face east, be sure to ask for that), Deluxe Suites or Wedgewood Suites. I would not book an Executive Room, Junior Suite (maybe ok if you could get one of the upper floors) or 1-Bedroom Suite, all of which face the back side.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the front (east) - deluxe executive, deluxe suite, Wedgewood suite - or possibly a...

We travel to various cities, often Vancouver, for foodie & hotel trips for three to four days over a weekend. In June 2013 we stayed at the Wedgewood for the first time. From the moment we walked into the lobby to the time we walked out of the lobby to head home all the staff from front desk, concierge, dining, and housekeeping were consistently professional and friendly while dispensing superb service.

The room was immaculate. The balcony provided a good view of the Vancouver Art Gallery with large trees on the adjacent sidewalk providing some privacy. The hotel is central downtown close to shopping, restaurants and attractions.

For a small hotel, it has a good gym with machines and free weights. We didn't have any spa treaments, hence the middle of road rating on the spa / gym.

The Bacchus Restaurant is recommended for both breakfast an dinner. The food and service were above expectations.

This hotel is a gem! We'll return for sure.

Room Tip: We stayed on the east side of the hotel, 4th floor, overlooking Howe Street. On the fourth floor th...

I searched for a hotel in Vancouver where I could stay for a two day extension after a business trip for a very long time. It is a wonderful city but it isn't home to a lot of reasonably priced hotels. Wedgewood had excellent reviews everywhere it was listed (including on this website) and it was about $100 per night cheaper than similar properties. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Although not surrounded by Vancouver's natural beauty, it is in a very convenient location Downtown. The minute you walk into the lobby, the world slows down and you feel you are in an oasis of calm. The rooms are nothing short of sumptuous (mine had an incredible jacuzzi tub and a balcony). The hotel has a tiny spa, where you can book an appointment and get there early to use their lovely steam room. The staff is extremely attentive. The hotel also has a truly lovely fitness center with an outdoor patio, I have absolutely not complaints about Wedgewood except that it doesn't have a pool. Stay there!

Just recently had the occasion to stay at The Wedgewood Hotel in Vancouver, BC on a business trip. Most of my colleagues were staying down the road at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. After reading the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor about this hotel, I decided to give it a try. The price was substantially lower and I felt that the rooms were Superior. I was even upgraded at no charge. Walking distance to most everything and the Canada Line metro station is only a block or so away so no taxis required getting from the airport.

Make sure that you check out the lounge in the lobby, The Bacchus. Beautiful decor and some of the best cocktails you will find. Had a Dark and Stormy (Dk Rum and Ginger Beer) and it was made with home made in house ginger beer.

Room Tip: If hotel is not full, I have heard many travelers mentioning that they usually get upgraded. But if...
