“Boutique Hotel in a Good Location”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

It is a nice hotel that looks freshly renovated, more attractive from the inside than it is on the outside. Great service. I was just slightly disappointed with the room size. I stayed in the Executive King Guestroom and in the Hotels.com description it is stated that the room is 463 square feet in size (which is a standard hotel room size), but in reality it was just about half that size, which is quite small for a hotel room, especially if you have a lot of luggage. I had two large suitcases and once you open them up you have little room to move around. I am not sure if all rooms are like that or I was just out of luck and got the smallest in the room category. The front desk was unable to assist me stating that that was in fact the true size of the room.

I recently stayed at the St. Regis when spending a couple of days in Vancouver on a business trip and was impressed by both the hotel and the staff.

The St. Regis is next door to the sky train rail line providing easy access to everywhere I needed to go. There are two restaurants attached to the hotel; the pub has good food with quick service and an excellent bar. The steak house is attached to the hotel, it has wonderful food and the chef will prepare special seafood dishes for anyone who doesn't want steak, but it is not actually part of the hotel so don't plan on charging dinner to your room. A good, cooked to order breakfast is available, at no additional charge. A room key is required to access the elevator, a safety feature that I greatly appreciate. The rooms are small but very comfortable with nice, modern bathrooms. All calls from the hotel are no charge, even international calls. The best part however is the hotel staff, anything and everything we asked for was provided promptly and with a smile. Our departure flight was early and we had to leave the hotel before the restaurant was open for breakfast so when we checked out the front desk staff presented us with boxed breakfasts (be sure to take the orange juice out of the box before entering the security line at the airport).

This Boutique hotel is everything you want for a perfect stay in Vancouver. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. Location is excellent and staff were very friendly (except one guy).

The only negatives; no mini bar but there is a 7 Eleven right across the road if you're desperate and the rooms I felt were a tad small but it won't be a deal breaker.

Breakfast was good and the hotel provides bottled water everyday which was great.

You'll have an enjoyable stay in Vancouver if you chose to lay your weary head here.

We only stayed one night on the way through to Whistler but were looked after very well, all the staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.

The rooms were well presented and decorated in a modern welcoming style with free Wi-fi and "in room" safe

The hotel is in an excellent central location near shops and train station with a upmarket steak restaurant (Gotham) and separate bar/grill serving "sports bar" style food, all within the same building.

Whilst arguably aimed at the business traveller, the hotel worked equally well for our first vacation night in Vancouver.

We booked this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The entire experience was excellent, we were checked in by professional friendly staff, our room was very suitable, clean and well decorated, breakfast was fantastic and included, staff were very friendly, overall a very positive experience and I would highly recommend this hotel.

My second stay at the St Regis. I'm in twin-share rooms, so a lot of space is taken by two beds, but the rooms are still an adequate size, nicely decorated, with safe, free wif-fi, plenty of plugs, etc. The bathrooms are fab. Best we had in Canada, really. Good pricing includes breakfast downstairs, with helpful waiter who acted like a concierge, although the front desk was of course very helpful too. There's a pub style bar/restaurant below which I definitely enjoyed last trip, but we eschewed that this trip because of the noise of ice hockey - not our thing. Connected to the hotel is the absolutely wonderful Gotham restaurant, where we had a wonderful meal. Sadly the coffee shop next door is a Starbucks so, as Australians, we eschewed that as well. The location is terrific - walking to Gastown, downtown, art gallery, public transport next door. Only problem was the smell as reported by another reviewer, caused, we found, by some new outdoor works. It would have been helpful if they'd told us about it beforehand. However, I would definitely stay there again because the work will be finished by now.

In addition to a great, convenient location, the St Regis is one of my favourite hotels when travelling on business. Someone was really thinking when they designed the rooms. Little luxuries like heated bathroom floors, lit makeup mirror positioned by the window so a woman can actually apply makeup without having to squint in a dark bathroom, a safe in the room, lights and heat on when I arrived, tastefully decorated and both privacy screens and heavier curtains so I can work in privacy but not total darkness. The desk area has ample outlets for cellphones, IPads and laptops. Individual room high speed, complimentary wi-if (which is unheard of in downtown Vancouver where some hotels charge $15 per day), a hot custom made breakfast included with the room, and someone opening the lobby door for me every time I come and go. Given the reasonable price of this hotel, the spotless, luxurious rooms, vanities and showers, I feel pampered and would choose the St Regis over hotels charging twice as much. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: A higher floor may have less vehicle traffic noise but it is downtown Vancouver so total peace and q...
