Starting our Vancouver trip, we browsed through countless lists of hotels. With big hotel names like Ramada, Hilton and many other showing up. We tried to find a hotel that had a reasonable location, accommodation, and price. Something that wasn't too cheap or too expensive, yet still was pretty good.

Cassandra Hotel stood out from the rest. Not only is the location quite prime being in the Kingsway Area (which is pretty close to central/downtown Vancouver) it is also quite close to Metrotown, which is excellent for shopping. The only downside to the location is that it's quite hard to get anywhere to and from the hotel without having a car.

The overall accommodation is great as the hotel is really clean and comfortable. It might not be as luxurious as other hotels, yet it had a warm and friendly environment. With the receptionist greeting us in and out of the hotel at all times. One receptionist (named Jenny) was especially helpful and informative regarding the hotel facilities. This really impressed us at how well trained and personal the staff is at this hotel.

A definite plus of the hotel is the complimentary breakfast of a muffin, juice, and croissant. Although it wasn't much, it made us feel appreciated and it also tasted good as well.
For the price, Cassandra Hotel has a excellent wifi service. With about 3 wifi locations inside the hotel so that it's really easy to get a high signal strength.

The rooms really impressed us the most. They have a quite large space for the room and the clean bed sheets changed everyday. We also liked the room's simple yet elegant minimalist design while still including useful amenities (like the microwave/coffee maker). The only downside to the rooms are the beds that slopes inside and the fairly loud fan.

All in all for about C$70- C$110 a night (depends on the day and rooms available), this has been one of the more memorable stays we had in Canada. With a fairly good location, room, and value, we will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we go to Vancouver.

This hotel is overrated. For about $100 a night, they either need to drop their rates, or shut down and renovate. Don't be deceived by the photos on the internet, as MAJOR renovation is greatly needed. For example, the Continental breakfast consists of asking the desk clerk for juice in a box, coffee made by a non-coffee drinker, and a hard croissant/biscuit. The fitness facilities consisted of 3 pieces of equipment that were almost on top of each other; an unpleasant odor that is not conducive to working out; and a sauna/whirlpool room that was literally in a dungeon environment, making you feel rather creepy. In addition, the rooms are a good size, but there were no washcloths, bedspread, fitted bottom sheets on the bed, and mildew on the tiles of the tub/shower. However, the biggest plus was we could get WiFi in our room, and the desk clerks were very helpful. Not being a very picky person, I don't think I would ever stay there again as long as it remains in the same deteriorating condition.

We stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and thought it was OK (probably because I had been staying 2 stars hotel then and now I have been staying 3 stars hotels, and that's why I have to write this review :)) For some reason we have to stay in Vancouver today expecting ok = normal 3 stars hotel. When we see the hotel today, I was surprised why I thought the hotel was actually "OK". The elevator is super worn and torn. The ceiling was broken, and the water was dripping right outside the first room we stayed and the room smell weird. When I re-checked if I booked the right hotel on xxxxx.com again, I saw brilliant pictures of the hotel, looked like a 3.5 stars+ (that's why photographer got high paid). But the reality looks nothing like what it is on the pictures. So I immediately called the front desk and the very helpful and friendly staff was willing to upgrade me to the "contemporary" room from the "classic" room with no charge. The new room is not that much different, but at least they have seemingly cleaner carpet. I'm not sure if I have different feeling from 2 years ago is because I have been staying in 3 stars hotels recently, but no matter what, this hotel should in no way be getting 9 out of 10 rating, right?

The hotel is on a great family neighborhood location but yet very conviennent for transportation and there are variety of Restaurants, market and shop and liquor store. lol. I was in the process of moving so I actually stay at the hotel for quiet long. They have great price for monthly plan which is worked out for me and my family. I think the best things I like about the hotel have to be their employees. The front agents are not only friendly but the most out going people I would know. The housekeeper did an excellent job on my room every week so i have nothing to complain about them....

I was laughing when i was reading some of the reviews. Changing and renovation mean they want to improve. They do have an elevator by the way.... which show "how believable some of the review could be"

Room Tip: Asked the agent for mountain room on 3rd floor

Good place to stay. Location is great. The front desk was very friendly & helpful. Especially Nicky & Jenny. They help us find the best place to visit in the city. They even took the time to get my girlfriend a little something for her birthday. We`re definitely coming back to stay here. Thank you very much.

I m not sure why there were so many bad reviews earlier for this hotel but I like it. I m not expecting to stay in a 5 star hotel by paying less than $100 for a night in summer. Our room got nice mountain view. We went for some restaurants close to this hotel. There r many options. Overall impression is not that bad. We like Vancouver and we will definitely come to Vancouver again next year!
