“Awesome Place to Stay in Downtown Vancouver”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

The Blue Horizion Hotel is a great place to stay in downtown Vancouver. We stayed here while visiting family. Blue Horizon is right on Robson Street and you really get the wonderful downtown flare that Vancouver offers.

The hotel and rooms are clean and good size. We had a room on the 25th floor and the views from there are fantastic.

The hotel also have meeting rooms on the top floor where you can rent a room for small parties or larger groups.

You can walk to all the amenities from here or take the transit. The restaurant on the lower level is good with an OK price.

Room Tip: If you ask for a corner room on the higher floors you will really enjoy your stay. I think the room...

My girlfriend and I spent 5 days here in early November. It is a well maintained, downtown hotel with nice views of the city. The WiFi had a good connection for us in the room. The cafe in the lobby was nice for morning coffee and muffin. We spent more time exploring the city than staying the room, but the room met all of our needs. Bathroom was clean. The room had a mini fridge and coffee maker. It is a short walk to both grocery and liquor stores, as well as many great Korean and Japanese restaurants. Cabs are very easy to get in front of the building. About a 7 minute ride from train station.

Room Tip: We got a double bed room for the extra space even though we only slept in one bed.

This was the first time my family has visited the City of Vancouver. I wanted to pick something special for our visit. This was a bullseye! I spent the extra few bucks for the 2 Queens premium room (as opposed to the 2 Queens regular) and it seemed very well worth it. We stayed on the 28th floor which, of course, has an awesome view. The view alone is great entertainment if you just want to relax.

I recommend putting the "Do not Disturb" thing on the outside of the door. For some reason, "house cleaning" entered our room in the late afternoon after we had checked in.

There was a used coffee cup full of cigarette butts and an empty soda can shoved inside the railing on the balcony. I removed them and placed them in a safer area for house cleaning to remove. It was very windy and rainy outside and didn't want it to fall 28 floors. I do believe this was an honest oversight by cleaning because it was sort of hidden.

The front desk personnel were VERY helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Not only did they point us in the right direction of some great restaurants to choose from, but held our bags after we checked out so we can explore some more.

The room was clean and spacious. The elevators were quick. They have four of them. No problem parking under the hotel. They do charge extra for that, but most everyone does.

We liked it a lot and will probably comeback to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Go ahead and get the premium room!

I stayed in the 25th floor as I booked the upper floors room, views are the best part of this renewed hotel. Despite its old look appearance from the exterior the hotel has a great inside along with better views. Front desk staff were very attentive and helpful, specially Paul. Close to everything in the best street of Vancouver. Within walking distance from the waterfront, Canada Place and Stanley Park. Room was nice and beds were comfortable as expected. Wifi was greater than expected. Definitely staying there again if the third visit in Vancouver comes up!

Room Tip: Upper rooms and specially mine 2505 was more than brilliant with sunset right at the horizon!

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Horizon for a weekend in November. For the price we paid, we were very happy with the hotel. The room was huge and very clean, the balcony was great and you cannot beat the downtown location. This is an old hotel with some recent updates and the decor in our room was mostly updated with an outdated bathroom. The lobby is completely updated but the pool/hot tub area still looks straight out of the 80s and lacked the cleanliness that you find in the rooms. When we arrived they informed us we had been "upgraded to a bigger room" but unfortunately that meant we had two beds in the room, and we would have preferred one. But the gesture was nice and again, you really cannot beat the value of Blue Horizon. We'd definitely go back, but this time we'd insist on the room we really wanted and skip the pool and hot tub.

We booked from overseas so it's always a wonder what the hotel will be like. Pleasantly surprised, wonderful big room with twin double beds, armchair and ottoman, plenty of bench space in the bathroom. Upgraded without even asking for it to the 26th floor, corner room with balcony. Nice to be able to open the ranch slider and have fresh air (after air travel). Lovely views most days except for one foggy misty day. Friendly staff, also in Abode (the hotel restaurant). I had their version of Eggs Benedict with local potatoes (using olive oil - a good sign). Excellent supermarket a block away, Urban Fare and about 15 minutes leisurely walk to the start of Stanley Park. Situated on Robson, it is well located for shopping and food. The free shuttle takes you directly to Capilano Suspension Bridge (well worth it though expensive). The Hop On, Hop Off tourist tram was useful for a general idea of Vancouver but the commentary and time keeping could have been a lot better - ran late and was 45 minutes behind at the end of the trip.
