“Great Location With Great Views”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

I stayed here for 3 nights with my wife.

I paid extra for the higher floors in order to take advantage of the views. I'm glad I did!

When we arrived I was given room 2505 which is East facing but because I wanted a harbor view, I asked and we were accommodated without any issue. The view was well worth it and the room was large with two good sized windows. We also had a balcony.

The rooms were well insulated and although we were next to the elevator, I never heard them open or close.

The pool is a good length for swimming and they have a Jacuzzi. Very basic gym.

They have two restaurants on site, and we tried breakfast on one morning which was good.

Again the view is perfect for getting around and we rented the Vancouver hop on/hop off trolley stops right outside the hotel.

Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean.

We spent a couple of nights at the Blue Horizon Hotel during round-trip of the Northwest US/BC.
The hotel was great - we were arriving on the day of the gay pride parade, and was duely informed of this ahead of time, so that we could plan our arrival. Although both rooms weren't ready for us at the time of arrival, the hotel staff was very accomodating to our wishes. We were able to get into one room early, and ventured the city for a couple of hours before returning for the second room.

Rooms were spacious and well equipped. We were on the higher levels and the view was amazing! Only "negative" was that the rooms were very dark.

If you're into running this is a great location - close to Stanley Park for an easy and not to long run!

Room Tip: Ask for higher levels for a great view

With Stanley Park close by, Robson shopping & nice big rooms this was a great place to stay. We enjoyed the views & balcony along with good gym with pool, spa & sauna. Lighting a little dull for the big room but managed. Recommend for location & room size.

I had used the 'do not disturb' sign on my door after my first night - didn't need housekeeping... I was getting off the elevator and the cleaning lady is coming out of my room. Her excuse was 'security check'. So after the second night, and a long day at my conference, I had taken a nap and was woken up because of the 'security check.' Again, the 'do not disturb' sign was in my door. I was not impressed with this at all.
With all the 'security checks,' is it safe at all to stay the Blue Horizon Hotel? & why is it housekeeping that is doing the checks?
I also had constant water running from the rooms above.
One of my colleagues had walked into her room and the housekeeper was washing her glass/mug in the sink with a face cloth... are the dishes not to be sent to the kitchen and washed/sterilized?

Dear Beths21,

Thank you for taking the time to write your guest comments. We appreciate guest feedback as it is important to the service and hospitality we provide.

We wish to assure you that used guestroom glassware, mugs and utensils are removed from the room and sanitized. Your colleague had a plate from ABODE in her room, and the room attendant was simply rinsing it off. We were in contact with your colleague and she appreciated clarification and said otherwise all the facilities were impeccable. Please be assured that cleanliness and hygiene is a top priority.

We respect a guest’s ‘do not disturb’ sign. We do a daily visual check of all rooms to ensure the wellbeing of our guests and their room. Our housekeeping team is very proud of the service it provides and we regret if you were inconvenienced in any way. Please note that hotel industry best practices includes daily room checks. We regret if there was any misunderstanding with our housekeeping team, and wish to assure you that we are proactive with matters of safety and security. The Blue Horizon is a safe place to stay.

We trust you understand and would be pleased to speak to you privately if this does not address your concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly to arrange a future visit, as we appreciate the opportunity to welcome you back.

Yours truly,

Paul Banis

We were fortunate enough to get an amazing room on one of the higher floors. I believe it was the 14th floor. The room was great, but more amazing were the VIEWS. Please see my photos! My cousin and her husband ended up hanging out in our room because the views were so amazing!

Room Tip: Get a room on one of the higher floors and ask for one that has a view of the harbor.

We arrived after a skiing holiday in Whistler and was upgraded to a larger room! The front desk lady went out of her way to accommodate my wife and our triplets! The room was spacious, comfortable, clean although the bathroom especially the tub could have been better. On the whole we truly appreciated the convenient location on Robson. We will definately return again if we visit Vancouver.

We had an issue with very noisy pipes that woke up our whole family near midnight. However, the manager was wonderful and arranged to promptly move us to a different room and provided wonderful service. We visit Vancouver often and now would have no hesitation staying here again, thanks to the manager, Paul. Very convenient location, spacious rooms, and the breakfast exceeded our expectation - delicious! The staff was always friendly and courteous.
