“Nice Hotel with Great Views in Central Vancouver”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

My partner and I stayed at the Blue Horizon Hotel for three nights in early March. We were in Vancouver to check out real estate in the outer suburbs. Our room was on the 23rd floor looking toward Stanley Park. The views from our room were wonderful, though the mountains to the north were mostly hidden by other buildings.

The room was large, clean, and comfortable. It was quiet with the balcony door closed, and there was no reason to leave it open, as the heating/cooling worked well and made little noise. There was an ice machine in the corridor next to our room, but we were not aware of it from inside the room. The beds were comfortable and we slept well, except for each of us being disturbed on one night (but different nights) by a whiny sound that could have been plumbing or an electrical sound that eventually disappeared. Perhaps it was related to the ice machine – we forgot to ask.

The parking garage is behind the lower levels of the hotel, which is convenient. It cost $16 per day, which seems reasonable for central Vancouver.

Just off the hotel lobby is the Abode restaurant, which we found very good. We ate there one night and had breakfast there every morning. The service at breakfast varied from excellent to slow to a bit uncoordinated, but the food was always good. We are vegetarians, but found both the breakfast and dinner menus gave us good choices.

Robson St. is a nice street with lots of small stores and cafés near the hotel, so almost everything you might need when traveling is close by, and the heart of downtown is not far away. We walked (briskly) to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in about 15 minutes. There are lots of taxis on Robson St. and buses go along it frequently, stopping just outside the hotel – and they are electric trolley buses, so they make almost no noise.

We enjoyed our stay at Blue Horizon and would stay there again. It’s a nice hotel with big, clean, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, a good restaurant, and a great location.

Room Tip: Another time, I would try to get a room that is not near an ice machine - just in case that was what...

This hotel provided excellent service, starting with the front desk right through to the housekeeping staff. The rooms were clean, comfortable and roomy. We were a group of 8 women, and they met our every need. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We were on the 28th and 29th floors - large windows two side of the room- spectacular view, no traf...

Had a great stay at this hotel. Pleasant experience at check in, comfortable clean room with a great balcony and view of Robson street. I only wish we had more time there as it's in the heart of great downtown shopping.

Off to the concert gotta get a room because any night at the Commodore rocks especially when it's John Buttler Trio . What to do Robsons close it's walking distance and the great staff at the Blue Horizon can set you up nice people clean hotel good restaurant reasonable rates done deal. Lots of great eats near by try twisted fork or half dozen other nice places near by and get your good times on. I will head on back to the Blue Horizon next time the Commodore offers up a good show it's a great close play to stay and have your weekend holiday you can't go wrong.

We booked our stay at the Blue Horizon directly on hotel's website. For a small premium, we took the option of a Superior Room. The desk clerk asked us what sort of view we wanted, and gave us a south facing view on the 29th floor. It was incredible, with windows looking towards English Bay and Stanley Park. The sliding glass door opened onto a clean balcony, the room was tastefully decorated, the bed was huge, and there was a bar fridge (liquor store is a half a block away). We didn't turn on the television once, choosing instead to just enjoy the changing views. A mid-century landmark hotel on Robson Street, a short walk to Stanley Park, the beaches, and downtown: can't beat this for the price!

Room Tip: The front desk is helpful is assessing what sort of view you want - mountains, city, or ocean. It...

We enjoyed the amenities of the hotel and found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel meant that our car could be left parked and we could walk around the city-centre with ease. Many attractions are within a short walk.

Room Tip: All rooms seem super, the ocean view especially.

This hotel has it all. Located on Robson Street which is one of the main shopping streets. The rooms are big and mostly have a balcony. There is a small indoor pool, hot tub and sauna.
The hotel was clean and had friendly staff.
There is a restaurant but I did not use it as I decided to go further afield to eat.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a good view.
