The Blue Horizon is a good city centre hotel, clean and comfortable with incredibly spacious rooms. We paid a premium for a room above the 15th floor expecting a great view of Vancouver, but all we could see was the nearby, surrounding taller hotels. Save your money if you're expecting a view and go for a lower floor at a cheaper price

The shower here was superb - we'd just completed a long motorcycle tour of BC and Alberta and had stayed in quite a few hotels and guest houses, but this was by far the best shower. No breakfast included in the room price here but they do have a restaurant on the ground floor that serves a very good, reasonably priced breakfast on the ground.

The location of the Blue Horizon is perfect for exploring "downtown" Vancouver. It's on Robson St, one of the main shopping thoroughfares so there are plenty of places to eat / drink here. It's also handy for walking to Coal Harbour and lots of other Vancouver attractions.

We stayed here for four nights, and I'd booked the hotel because it stated that the price quoted included taxes - something to be aware of in BC as the HST tax can raise the price of goods / services dramatically. When we came to pay the bill on leaving, the invoice showed an additional HST tax. I commented to the (quite rude) reception clerk that the price included taxes. He then pointed me towards the small print which said that "additional taxes" could be charged. Aparently the taxes that were included are "Hotel Taxes", we still had to pay the HST which added a fair amount to the bill - far more than we''d budgeted for. For that reason alone I wouldn't ever stay at the Blue Horizon again, they should make it crystal clear just what taxes are and are not included in the price.

This place is about as good as it gets for the $. It's on Robson St. right in the middle of the action and has cheap onsite parking which is rare. The hotel and rooms are clean and elegant with every amenity you could want including indoor pool and hot tub. The city view from our balcony was wonderful. The onsite restaraunt was resonable AND delish but if you want something else, there are dozens of restaraunts within a short walk from the door. Also a cool 24 hour coffee shop in the block as well as every high-end store (and not so) on the same street. I hope to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Many others have detailed the reasons for their positive responses, and I'd like to second them. Location is great, and having a balcony for people-watching is an extra benefit (and I even had a seagull visit me, but he was probably looking for food--not human companionship). The electric kettle and Bigelow English Breakfast tea is a nice British-Canadian touch. Good front desk staff.

Did not try restaurant or bar because there are too many really interesting international places nearby.

When I return to Vancouver I plan to stay here again.

Floor 28 had fantastic view over harbour. Rooms big and clean although could do with a toaster and sink in kitchen. Great location, centre of downtown. Public car park so not secure. Breakfast not included. Pool ok but shallow and indoors. Hot tub and sauna good but was not working on one day.

We loved staying at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver before our cruise to Alaska. The hotel is centrally located in Vancouver right in the middle of the shopping district on Robson and not far from Canada Place or Stanley Park. We did walk from Canada Place one afternoon but took a cab the day of our cruise because of our luggage. The room that we had on the 25th floor faced east onto a side street and we later realized we wish we had requested a room facing west. This would have helped us see the fireworks on English Bay. The balcony was awesome (except for my husband who is afraid of heights). The room was not only bright and beautiful from the walls of windows and doors but also it was clean, comfortable and spacious. We were extremely pleased.
We also went to the patio restaurant out front after a long day of sightseeing including a 6- mile bike trek in Stanley Park, a 4- mile walk to the water taxi, browsing through Granville Island (loved that), Gastown and Chinatown! We were exhausted and happy to be back at the Blue Horizon. We realized that we didn't have a shower curtain but when I called the front desk to let them know, there was a knock on our door within minutes to put it up. When we were checking out we noticed that several people were leaving their bags behind until their flight left. This is a really nice amenity from the hotel so people don't have to drag their luggage through town while sightseeing after checking out!
Again, we would definitely stay here the next time we have the privilege of spending time in Vancouver !!!

Have stayed in this hotel three times in as many years and have not been disappointed. The higher rooms have outstanding views and rooms are spacious. Aircon, tea/coffee facilities, ethernet internet. Unpretentious restaurant but good value. Try to get a room on the Robson St side of the street for your first visit - views of English Bay and the mountains. Close to Stanley Park, shops and Skytrain. Highly recommended.

We had a top floor room and boy where we lucky! What an awesome view. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the hotel was pretty much within walking distance of everything. We walked to Stanley Park, and even as far as Yaletown. It's a very busy area w/ all the shopping and restaurants downstairs. Walking on the sidewalks in the area is a challenge! We had lunch downstairs in the hotel restaurant and the staff was very friendly and the food was fine. The hotel overall was very well maintained and our room was clean.
