Outstanding little retro hotel in the middle of downtown Vancouver.

I was a bit nervous after seeing the great reviews and photos here on TripAdvisor, thinking they were all too good to be true. NOT THE CASE!!! Wonderful experience from start to finish. Easy and convenient parking, in room espresso machine and great coffee shop downstairs. Convenient to both Davie Street restaurants and Robson Street shopping.

Hotel even has a great selection free bicycles for guests to use. I took advantage of this one afternoon. I was a bit nervous, as I had never ridden a bicycle on busy city streets. Vancouver has this covered... separate bike lanes throughout downtown. You MUST Bike the seawall in Stanley Park. This will be one of my most memorable experiences ever.

Finally, a "Hat's Off" to front desk clerk, Michael... Thanks for your hospitality!!!

Good price, great location. Amazingly quiet despite being across from St. Paul's hospital. Ask for courtyard room. NIce touches of free bottled water and Nespresso machine. Bad: small sink/bathroom, ours had hair in tub when we got there.

Room Tip: Courtyard room

I spent most of my trip staying at the Sheraton next door, but after reading the good reviews on TA and checking out the funky hotel website, I thought I would stay at The Burrard for two nights just to compare the difference.

Pros:
-Motel with character. It's a completely renovated motel with a retro theme. Very trendy.
-Excellent location on Burrard Street (next to Sheraton, across from St Paul's Hospital, in the heart of Downtown Vancouver)
-7-eleven co-located with the motel
-Plenty of shops and restaurants on Davie Street (2 minute walk)
-Coffee machine (The ONLY hotel I have stayed in North America that offer an European style coffee machine. Even 5 star hotels in North America rarely offer this. That was my highlight.)
-TV bigger than at Sheraton!
-Clean room.
-Quiet room (some rooms faces Burrard Street are noisy though)
-Free WIFI that works well
-Free water
-Free local calls and long distance within North America
-Free lip balm
-Free bike rental
-Amazing bed and sheets (5 star hotel quality)

Cons:
-None

Overall: Similar experience to The Sheraton at half the price. Very impressed.

Room Tip: If you mind traffic noise, ask for a room that does not face the main street

The Burrard is an older "Hotel/Motel" in the heart of Vancouver. It's total redo makes it funky retro with super quilts and expreso machines. I've stayed twice now and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless. The have cruiser bikes to borrow, and underground parking. The courtyard is beautiful. Spring lilac, dafodils, and tulips in bloom. Palm trees add to the charm. Blocks from all major vancouver sights. The rooms are small.

Room Tip: If you want a bath ask as some rooms are shower only.

The hotel is modern and charming. We thanks Nidhi for his kindness and pacience giving us good suggestions that enhanced the good times we had in this lovely city, like riding by bike in the Stanley Park, eating near the hotel at Davies Street, making shopping at Robson Street and so on. We are from Brazil and will surely recommend this place to our friends.

My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights in the Burrard in December 2011. Being from BC I was quite familiar with downtown hotels and have stayed in the Sheraton to the Coasts.

When first getting to the Burrard, you may be dismayed by the lackluster exterior. However once you get inside it is a different story. With a modern look in the lobby you are greeted by very friendly and knowledgeable front desk agents. They seemed to take a genuine interest in why you are there. Check in was a breeze, so up to our rooms we went.

Again walking to the rooms, there is an outside garden terrace, but not alot of action going on there. Still the exterior gives you a bit of a truck stop motel feeling.

We enter the room. A large Queen bed, plush blankets and pillows and a large flat screen tv. There are plenty of pamphlets to tell you the amenities.

Best of all there are free bicycle rentals. The bikes are in quite good condition (touring bikes, I believe it was 4 speeds), and they supply you with a helmet free of charge. Close enough to the bike trails along the sea walls etc.

We enjoyed it so much we stayed 3 nights, when it was originally supposed to be one.

With modern very comfortable rooms at less than $100/night with free bike rentals, the Burrard is a welcome surprise downtown Vancouver, and absolutely fantastic value. I would definitely stay here again.
