I have literally stayed in half the hotels in Van: Fairmont Pac Rim/Hotel Van/YVR, Loden, l'Hermitage, Sutton, Westin Bayshore/Grand, The Met, Palisades, Sheraton Wall, le Soleil, Century Plaza, Coast, Renaissance, TCC... The Burrard is now my new favourite. It is basic, modern, comfortable, central (bus stop outside, Skytrain 5 blocks away, Cineplex 2 blocks, across street from St. Paul's Hospital) and excellent value. All the rooms pretty much look the same so no such thing as a bad room. Service on-line and in-person was great. Decor, linens, toiletries, amenities are good. Complimentary WiFi, Nespresso, their own bottled water. Affordable parking. Windows that open. Café with coffee and pastries. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I must confess I didn't think much of it on entry, but fell in love with the concept. Bright colours were everywhere and the hotel emphasised a retro theme that was adorable.A set of large postcards with retro themes featuring the hotel was a thoughtful gesture. Considering it is in downtown Vancouver, everything in the room was compact with witty labels. It is no-frills hotel and they dont have much service but have interesting offers for guests such as bicycles and calling locally for free.

Room Tip: Choose higher rooms for less noise from the road.

Stayed here one night after i arrived into Vancouver on a late flight. Parked my rental car in the underground parking ($25/day). The check in process was quick, but had to be complete before gaining access to the underground parking. There is an elevator to use to take your suitcases up, but it is very small. Rooms are fine- basic. There is a nespresso machine in the room which is a nice touch. Overall, you can tell that this is a converted motel- it maintains some of that feel. I stayed there after i found the place on Jetsetter, but I'm not sure it is quite "jetsetter" yet. The concept is really neat and retro, but still quite basic.

Stayed here with a friend visiting her mom and dad. Right across the hospital from St Paul's hospital and very centrally located. The rooms are roomy and comfortable. The beds are great to sleep in and couldn't hear the outside world at all. My favourite retro sign was "this way to the pool" pointing to the bathtub....no the hotel does not have a pool. Great place to stay. Clean, quiet, helpful and cheerful staff. Would recommend.

This place is awesome!! Sooooo clean, and the best little touches throughout the hotel. Yummy espresso in the rooms, magical pillows, and quiet rooms despite being across the street from a hospital. The staff even helped us jump start our car at the peak of check out time. Can't wait to stay again!
