My experience must be a rare exception for this very highly recommended hotel on Hotwire.
After stepping into the shower, I noticed bright pink mildew, thick along the doorframe. I also noticed an eyelash (not my own) on the shower wall. Since I already had shampoo in my hair, I finished my shower despite the mildew. After my (not very relaxing) shower, I opened the window for ventilation, and found a hand print, nose print, and SNEEZE print, crusted on the window! I called the front desk, and they offered a new room. The new room was spotlessly clean. The bed was plenty comfortable.
However, beware: the curtains are ornamental only. They do not pull shut across the translucent drapes. Inside the hotel room, with the bedside lamp on, I could see through the drapes into the rooms of the building across the street, quite clearly. This hotel is suitable for romance only if your tastes are either somewhat exhibitionist, or lights off! The bathroom counter is only a tiny ledge above the toilet, quite awkward for 2 people brushing their teeth, or for styling your hair. The following morning, around 9 am, my husband tried to run a bath, and ran out of hot water. He waited 20 minutes for enough hot water to have a bath. This can happen anywhere if too many people are running the hot water at the same time, so perhaps we had a run of bad luck. Is this a rare problem at this hotel?
On a positive note, the hotel is indeed bright and modern, with a cheeky, racey, youthful humour styling the hotel, for unique personality. The hotel's location was very convenient. The free wifi was high-speed, so we were able to watch a movie on our smartphone. Also, the hotel courtyard looked very lush, tropical, inviting, and I probably would enjoyed it if I had had more time.
