“Great location but some small minus”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

We really liked the hotel because of;
- location! Very central
- nespresso machine in the room
- nice shampoo and showergel
- great decoration

We were disappointed by;
- our room had only 1 window with view on the patio and there was absolutely no ventilation. There was an 'airco' in the room but that was just blowing warm air. We even slept 2 nights with our door open as we got a massive headache the first night with the door closed.
It was 28 degrees when we were there so quite hot, maybe it is better on cooler days.
- one of the main reasons we have booked the Burrard hotel were the free bicycles. Unfortunataly there are only 8 available which is not a lot when the room is fullt booked. We had to get up very early on the 2nd day to get the bicycles but it would be great if there are more or when the Burrard can offer a rented bicycle for a reduced price.

Goods:
1. very convenient location. You can find food and shopping easily around in walking distance. 20 minutes walk to Gas Town. And you get to look around while walking down there. Not bad at all.
2. eco-friendly environment: big bottles of hand soap, shampoo/body wash and conditioner. No more waste in small sample bottles. Let's save our Earth by being eco-friendly!
3. clean and good sized bedroom. We got free upgrade from Queen bedroom to King bedroom. So it's from a king bedroom perspective... :)
4. Parking spaces. I did not drive, but I saw people parking at the lower level and took the elevator up to check in.

Other considerations:
1. relatively small elevator, just one elevator, so it gets busy (longer wait time) during meal time. Be patient or take the stairs if you may.
2. It's right across a hospital and located on a busy street. However, the windows are nicely sound-proved so not a big deal.

Green Features: big bottles of hand soap, shampoo/body wash and conditioner. No more waste in small sample bottles. Let's save our Earth by being eco-friendly!

Great option! The location is excellent, you're close to everything. People at the front desk were very kind. And it's great you can borrow bikes! :) The room was clean and comfortable, kind of small, though. But we are satisfied and totally recommend it.

The Burrard stands out when researching Vancouver hotels for its retro charm and cool branding. The website and marketing materials do a great job, and this is backed up by good service and experience at the hotel. We stayed for 2 nights and although the rooms are simple, they are clean and have everything you need. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant recommendations came in very handy for a lovely romantic meal (Bambudda in case you're interested!). The Container Coffee shop joined to the hotel serves great drinks and light breakfast, and the hotel is just a short walk away from bustling Davie Street and around 15mins walk from English Bay beach and the sea front. There's on site parking below the hotel and even complimentary bike hire on vintage style bikes to explore on. We loved it here!

This was the last hotel at the end of our 3 week tour to Canada but a little disappointing. It is located on Burrard street, a main street which takes you to down to the Waterfront or over the Burrard bridge in the opposite direction where you can visit Vanier park( a relaxation park for the locals). Both are walkable, as are most places from here. Alternatively you can get a bus or taxi. So the location is ok. The rooms and the decor seemed very clinical to us, the rooms predominantly white. The rooms are accessed by an outside walkway with all the doors painted bright colours. It just reminded us of a Pontins/Butlins holiday camp in the UK. The rooms have got 2 double beds in them which take up most of the space, perhaps 1 bed would be better.
We arrived late afternoon and after a wash and change it was time for a meal. The man on reception advised us to go across the road to Davie street where there are lots of eateries. We found that the street was a little shabby and we ended up having an Indian meal. Not a lot of choice and certainly a different take on the ones in the UK. Not the best experience.
The next day we walked down Burrard street and found better restaurants going towards the Waterfront. I think the receptionist should have pointed us in that direction.
We did find a good cafe for breakfast in Davie street however( it was called Joe's or Joey's) not far along from Burrard street lights.

The location was very convenient for visiting Vancouver. And the staff could not have been more accommodating- unfailingly friendly and helpful. Above all, we enjoyed the free bikes but be advised that you need to get down to the desk and claim them EARLY! As far as the room goes, very basic amenities and also very warm, I have to say that I would not have booked this room in August had I known that it did not have air conditioning. Also, there was some kind of cooler in the room when we arrived that leaked all over the carpet, so quite a bit of the carpet in our very small room was wet for the duration of our stay (and we did report it). Joe's Grill about a block away is a great place for a hearty breakfast.

The Burrard is exactly what it says it is, nothing more, and nothing less. If you are looking for a complete escape, to be served cocktails by the pool, or to impress business clients, this is not your hotel. But if you want a refreshingly relaxed, friendly, and easygoing place to stay while enjoying the amazing city that is Vancouver, then you should definitely check them out. The staff is great, and went out of their way to help us. The location is excellent for downtown, within walking distance of everything. And the free bikes really made our day.

Room Tip: No A/C, so in the summer you will want windows open. Choose an upper floor.

Green Features: It's not just "lip service". They reduce waste in several effective ways. The refillable water bottles, reduced paperwork, and soap dispensers are a good idea.
