“Central, but showing its age”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

The Moda is in a good location, but the hotel is small, the rooms are converted from what I would assume is an old apartment building, and the wiring, plumbing, etc., is exposed and painted. There are few electrical outlets due to the age of the building (which, when you are sightseeing/visiting, and have two phones, a camera, etc., becomes an issue to charge). It's modern, but VERY budget.

I had to call the front desk three times to get a pack-and-play delivered to the room (over the course of 4 hours after check-in).

Parking is reasonable, but it in another building across the street and up five floors and is about 10 minutes away.

We had read the previous reviews on trip advisor and opted to upgrade to a back room on the top floor. Nice enough room with all we needed. Basic bath etc but kept clean.
Great thing was really the location. It was easy to walk to all of the major areas and good places to eat both below the hotel and on Granville. Good value for money as we booked on a Trivago type site and got a great deal.

Room Tip: Top floor back corner nice and quiet. Not too sunny but we were out all day.

We spent five nights here in July 2014. Our room was small but adequate. The staff was wonderful, always friendly, providing good advice to our tourism questions. We used our room only for sleeping at night, as we were out sightseeing most of the day. A business traveller might find this hotel cramped. There is a strong wifi service. If you are a light sleeper, be aware that there is noticeable traffic noise. Also, the bar on the main floor had a jazz band on one evening and it was quite noisy. The decor is modern, but the hotel does show some signs of its age. All in all, however, we enjoyed our stay here and would use this facility again.

Hotel is rather old and is reflected in the elevator. Staff is rather uneducated as to the neighborhood that they are in. They have no clue as to where anything in the area is. Attempted ti ask for an ice cream parlor and was sent 2 miles away. Imagine my surprise when I found 1 one block from the hotel. Unable ti tell me any info on what is in the area as far as restaurants go. The bathroom that was in our room was slopped at a 15 degree angle. Halls ways were dank and musty,

We had one night in Vancouver and were very pleased with the location of this hotel. It's clean, modern and the staff on check in and throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful. The room itself is pretty small and if we had been staying more than one night it might have been an issue with accessing our suitcases but for a one night stay to see the city it was just what we needed.

Good hotel, nice location- close to the action. Our stay here was brief....the room itself was nice, but small. The electrical outlets were hard to find, and multiple plugs were loaded onto one outlet (our tv didn't work). Good value for a king sized bed room with a nice city view.

First of all, we booked through Hotwire so we got a very good rate which has obviously influenced this review. Stayed 3 nights with my wife and toddler, all the staff were extremely accommodating, providing a baby cot as well as hot water (for baby milk) whenever we asked - there was unfortunately no kettle in the room. They also provided options when our aircon stopped working (during an apparently rare Vancouver heatwave). Location is amazing, really well suited for exploring downtown Vancouver. Do try some of the beers from the liquor store downstairs, really great selection. There is also a nice deli down the road (Nester's), pity there wasn't a fridge in the room in which to store consumables.
