“Location is the BIG plus of this hotel”

Arrived somewhat later than expected but had no problems checking in. I had a room on the top floor ( #436 ). The room was of decent size and had a ensuite bathroom. I immediately noticed the temperature being quite warm in the room so changed it on the airco and went out to get some dinner hoping that when I returned the temperature would be more acceptable. To my surprise hardly anything had changed even though you could feel the cold air coming from the unit. As it made quite a bit of noise I had to switch it off or else I would not have been able to sleep. Despite the uncomfortable temperatures I slept reasonably well but made told the reception about my problem. They told me it would be looked into. I have no reason to doubt that this was done, but temperature wise nothing changed and I just dealt with it.
The reason I had no doubts about them looking into my airco problem was that this staff does everything they can to make you feel welcome / comfortable. Therefore my 3 point rating seems a bit low, but I couldn't give it a 4 point rating because of the room problems.
Location wise you cannot be in a better place. Right in the middle between the waterfront ( Canada Place ) and Granville Island with lots and lots of shops / restaurants in the neighborhood. The area feels very safe and it's easy to navigate.
Never ate at the hotel's restaurant as I opted to eat outdoors.
Not sure if I would stay at this hotel again, but I would recommend it if you are travelling on a budget and want to be in the city center.

Room Tip: As per my experience I would not take a room on the top floor.

While on a 3 week USA/Canada trip, we spent one night in downtown Vancouver. The Moda hotel provided a great location for exploring downtown's attractions and shops.
The building is old but has a modern entrance, it is quirky in its merging of old & new.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and adequately sized, as was the bathroom. There was a but of noise from an upstairs guest in heels in the night but hotel cannot be held responsible. As for the relatively small amount of traffic & city noise, surely no-one stays in the middle of a city while expecting noise levels from the countryside....

The Location was great and the rooms were comfortable and clean (albeit a little small). You can tell that they do their best to make this boutique hotel unique and interesting! The service was great and the restaurants/bars attached to the hotel were awesome. Being directly downtown its easy to explore the city! All that being said the first time I got in the elevator I was a little nervous (its small and old), but that was an overreaction on my part!

This is an old hotel re furbished, so is quite charming but is not a new building,(it is a really interesting old building) so don't expect it to be a modern experience. Having said that it is very well re furbed, so no complaints, it is just a little quirky. We had a pleasant corner room on the fourth floor with windows on two sides. Smallish bathroom verging on poky, but perfectly adequate as we were mainly out and about. Coffee, ironing board and plenty of room for luggage. Central position, ideal for Robson and Davie Streets. Good bar and restaurant in the building. Very good value for money, perhaps because it is so restrained and not showy. Simple style. We had no problem with noise despite being on the corner, but that is perhaps because we were high up. Would very happily stay here again. Extremely pleasant and helpful
reception staff.

Room Tip: As it is on the corner of two streets, it might be worth asking for a quiet room.

Moda has a great location, friendly staff and is a good deal. Close to Robson shopping, Yaletown and Gastown. You can park your car at the hotel and walk the city. Be careful as the parking garage has had break ins, so take all valuables with you. The bar in the hotel is fun as well for a nightcap.

Great location in the heart of down town Vancouver .For the price in relation to other hotels in Vancouver is very good .The rooms are on the small side with very little storage space.but the bathroom is a good size .We had a problem with our air con and we were up graded to the suite. These are much larger rooms with lots more storage space ,two TV s and a huge bed thats like sleeping on a cloud.only problem is there's no air con just electric fans .you can't open the windows as it's too noisy. So we had two very hot nights .my advise to anyone thinking of staying in the area during the summer months is book early there is a drastic shortage of hotels.

The Moda is in a good location, but the hotel is small, the rooms are converted from what I would assume is an old apartment building, and the wiring, plumbing, etc., is exposed and painted. There are few electrical outlets due to the age of the building (which, when you are sightseeing/visiting, and have two phones, a camera, etc., becomes an issue to charge). It's modern, but VERY budget.

I had to call the front desk three times to get a pack-and-play delivered to the room (over the course of 4 hours after check-in).

Parking is reasonable, but it in another building across the street and up five floors and is about 10 minutes away.
