“Decent hotel in prime location, 5 min walk to everything”
Reviewed 10 January 2011

We gambled and tried Priceline again, fortunately we ended up getting this hotel for under $100 for the deluxe room for the night. Upon check in I asked for any free upgrade and was able to get one of the highest floor (I totally recommend it for the view)

The Hotel:
Location location location, you can't possibly get better location than this. Its in the heart of downtown Vancouver within walking distance to everything. If driving there's oneway everywhere so you might have to detour quite a bit to pull into the Hyatt but its easy to find. I liked but also disliked the hotel being connected to another building, it can get confusing trying to locate the lobby. The advantage of this is that you get more than just a hotel restaurant to navigate if wanting to hang out at the hotel.

The Room:
Its updated to a modern standard, small but clean bathroom and LOVED the top spray shower head, the room is spacious and the view was just to die for. Bed was comfortable and big, king size.

The Mosaic Bar & Grill:
The hotel itself is a bit on the small side for a Regency chain but the bar was just very quaint and with a wrap around view. I highly recommend just spending some time lounging at the bar, looking out the window and unwinding.

One thing I didn't like, I REALLY disliked was the parking fee. While I expected a parking fee for the rental, I didn't expect to pay that much, $39 for one night through the garage! You can park for $27? if paid through the hotel.

We went to Kamei Royale and had sukiyaki (above the Tiffany & Co. store) which was delicious. Imperial China Seafood Palace by the water was also great for dim sum. I loved the Urbant Tea Merchant shop by the hotel where you can get tea infused spread and do a cozy tea tasting.

This hotel is located in the middle of everything with easy access to the shopping strip and the wonderful waterfront path. We were there for a couple days over New Years so it was busy and noisy. The rooms were nice, newly renovated and had a nice view through the big windows. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nothing special but clean.

The only big complaint I had was the thinness of the walls. Our first afternoon our neighbor had their music blaring and it might as well been in our room. After a while we called down to the front dest and they quickly sent someone up and the people turned it down. Then later that night, not new years eve, the neighbors had a group of people over and you could hear most of the conversation and laughing. We didn't want to spoil the fun, so tried to ignore it, but after 1 am we were getting pretty tired! So again we called down and they quickly sent someone up. I will say the hotel staff was very helpful, and they can't really do anything about the wall thinness.

The Hyatt is in a great location, and very easy to get to from the airport via the skytrain. On arriving, we checked in at the kiosks, and our room was huge! Very clean, on the 25th floor, modern and comfortable. We had breakfast in our room the next day (Christmas day) and the service and food were excellent. They even included Christmas candy canes with our meal, which was a sweet touch. The first three nights we slept well, and housekeeping was good. However our room had a connecting door with the another room and by the 3rd night new guests moved in next door and we could practically hear every word. By the second night we asked to be moved, as another set of new guests had moved in and they couldn't communicate below a shout.
The staff at the desk were very apologetic, and helpful and dealt with it quickly. We were given a new room with no adjoining doors, away from the lifts on the 27th floor. Again another great room, however from this point on the noise got worse, with a family on one side who allowed their kids to jump off the bed, run up and down the corridor, and open and close drawers loudly and constantly while listening to the tv at a ridiculous level. We could also hear the tv on the other side too, even though they didn't have it particularly loud. It culminated on New Year's Eve, when the people upstairs sounded like they were dropping concrete blocks while having a massive screaming match. We didn't complain anymore as we didn't even know who to complain about. The noise levels were coming from everywhere. Now, we completely appreciated it was new years eve, however it was still a hotel, and we had saved to go on this 9 day trip, from a long flight which was now being marred by our accommodation. It was getting to the point we dreaded returning back every evening as we didn't know what kind of sleep we were going to get. It quietened down on our last night, either that or the fact that I had worked out, by turning the air con/heater to full and then putting ear plugs in it drowned out a lot of the noise.

On a positive - the staff we met were pleasant and professional. Some were incredibly helpful, and the waitress in the Mosaic Grille on our last day was really really great. It was also good having Starbucks in the lobby for breakfast, and the shops etc next to the hotel were really handy. The views were pretty good, we had a good one of Grouse Mountain, and the coffee and facilities in the rooms were also good.

Overall, I wouldn't return as we wanted a quiet romantic Christmas break - and this was not it at all, and spoiled our highly anticipated festive trip, which was upsetting.

Location is two short blocks from the central hussle and bussle of Robson St. and another two blocks to Granville St. Great food and shopping close by. Stayed two nights, New Years eve and New Years night, 12/31/2010-1/2/2011. Found good price on Priceline "Name your price" for $110/per night. Parking for Friday-Sunday ran $47 Canadian, and we went out with our car once. If we just left the car parked, I think it would have been $12 bucks less, no in and out privileges in parking garage. It's a shared parking lot. Since I negotiated my price, I could not choose room type and got stuck with a two double room. Very large corner room, nice entry hall. We would have preferred one king. No rooms available since it was a busy holiday weekend. We have stayed at the Westin Bayshore, the Metropolitan, and this hotel. Always negotiate my price on Priceline and have not been disappointed with any of them.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night just to get some relaxation and alone time after a hectic Christmas.

This hotel is not the newest hotel in Vancouver, but not the very oldest. Their style is modern but still very comfortable and clean. If you're looking to be near the water, then stay at Pan Pacific or Fairmont. I love their views!

The best thing about this Hyatt is the location. It is just a short walk to Robson Street so we walked along Robson to do some shopping. We also grabbed some snacks and food around the area too. The hotel is also next to the skytain station (Burrard Station) so it's very convenient for people to go somewhere without a car.

$200/night and no free wi-fi (that's extra). Rooms are ok, but nothing to write home about. You can get a better deal at the Holiday Inn Express. Continental Breakfast was $25 per person and wasn't much.

Beds are ok. Decor nice, but not elegant.

Check In was slow - even with the automated self-check in machines. I didn't care for self-check in. I wanted attentive, personal attention for the price I paid. Total waste of time.
