I've put our clients at the Metropolitan before but had never stayed there. We found the staff to be very friendly, the room was of a good size and very well-equpped with a great bathroom and fluffy robes. The rates are quite fair for Vancouver. A large mall is just across the street from the hotel, and one can walk all over the downtown area quite easily. As others have said, the Skytrain is very close by so it makes airport travel easy and cheap. If one wants to, you can walk to the cruise terminal in maybe 10 minutes. I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Location of this hotel is very convenient, in the middle of Downtown Vancouver. Lots of dining, shopping and sightseeing (Gas Town, China Town) within walking distance, and the Sky train station Vancouver Downtown is around the corner. From this station you can easily travel conveniently to/from Vancouver International Airport for only CAD 4 per person, which sure is a lot cheaper than using a taxi. Even better is purchasing a day ticket for +- CAD 9, which enables you to travel to all zones using busses, (Sky) trains and the Sea bus to Vancouver North. An ideal way to get to know the city and the people living in it, and more fun than the Hop On, Hop Off busses.

The hotel itself felt a bit 'old glory'-ish. The room we got was nice, having everything you need on a city trip. The bed we got was very comfortable. The decoration is a bit old fashioned, maybe stylish in the 90s, but not anymore. The bathroom was large and clean. It's mainly the technique The Met obviously neglected the last few years: The Wi-Fi is horrible, unreliable and uncomfortable because The Met uses several access points with different names on each floor. So you keep on switching between weak signals. We tested this with several devices on different floors, and kept on experiencing a very slow connection at different times on different days. E.g. Skyping was (nearly) impossible. And although you have many TV channels, most of them are analog (on a large LCD screen), which displays an unclear and fragmented picture.

The staff ranged from very helpful and friendly, to trying to ignore you as much as possible. Typical, but we didn't mind the second category too much as the weather in Vancouver was very good during our stay and Vancouver is a beautiful city to explore.

We would have given a 3.5, but Tripadvisor does not support this. Because of the super location, the reasonable price we paid for the room and some of the gems in the personnel department The Met gets a 4* rating. This time.

The service here has been wonderful. Rooms are nice size, with handy built-in cabinetry for luggage. Spacious bathroom with separate tub and shower. Conveniently located near Pacific Center and not too far from attractions like Gastown.

Great to hear you liked our hotel. And I agree, with all of the built in cabinets, it is nice to unpack and hide your suitcase away... makes it more like home.

We arrived very early and the reception staff did a great job finding us a room for our four day booking. Rooms are comfortable and all requests are dealt with efficiently.
Breakfast until 11 a luxury for us.
Service staff are flexible to allow sleep in.

Thanks for your review. I hope you had a chance to try our Black Cod Hash for breakfast... I don't think you can find this anywhere else in the city...and it is so good!

Great location, courteous staff, very helpful concierge desk. This review for the Metropolitan Hotel might have ended here but that might be stinting on well-deserved praise. The rooms are large and comfortable (at least the room I was allotted was spacious), the bathroom well-designed and adequately stocked. The wifi signal was strong, unlike many other hotels where the complimentary wifi signal is usually very weak. The metropolitan is located in downtown Vancouver and close to many chief attractions. The concierge desk also helps secure reservations at restaurants, provides advice on sights and spots. However, there was only one reservation about the hotel: we wish they had provided complimentary breakfast. For business travellers and tourists alike, a great breakfast makes all the difference to the day's work in an alien city. But, overall, a great experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors provide an excellent view of the city.

I booked my hotel online.. The price was the first reason why I stayed there.. Location was second but the service and comfort was the last..
I had a very spacious room with a great view.. I truly enjoyed the comfort of my bed and specially the pillows. In Vancouver, everything is walking distance. That's if you like to walk.. The hotel is across an underground mall and the metro station which takes you to the airport in 25 minutes for $4.00 Canadian money. You can grab a delicious juice at JuiceJugo.. When I return to Vancouver, I will definitely stay there again..

Firstly, the Met has very soft and super comfortable bedding linens. I slept extremely well for all 4 nights despite being right outside the hotel elevators.

We were kindly permitted an early check in on the 17th floor & a decent city view. Housekeeping did a great job every day- The rooms were quickly and efficiently cleaned. Upon booking the hotel, I advised reservations that our trip was in celebration of my sisters birthday and they put in an amenity request. On arrival, we received a slice of cake with a chocolate slab with a Happy Birthday note. That was much appreciated!

The hotel is perfectly located: right by Vancouver City Centre station with lots of shops & breakfast spots- Mario's (Argentinean cafe), Garden Deli (good for cheap and quick brekkie) & Sciue (great Italian cafe). It is also walking distance to Canada Place, Vancouver Art Gallery and Robson Street. If you need to book a trip with B.C Ferries, they're a hop & a skip away and it's faster & friendlier than doing it online!

Another great aspect of the hotel is Doug at concierge. He's very helpful, friendly and accommodating to any question or concern. The Met hotel was a fantastic choice and would recommend without hesitation!
