“Fab new rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2014

Our recent stay at the Waterfront was after a weeks stay at the Fairmont Whistler, hard act to follow! However we were given one of the newly refurbished rooms, very modern, spacious and hitech. Only disappointment was no ocean view, which given our first morning was brilliant sunshine would have been tremendous to wake up to. Jesi the concierge lady was excellent and really helped us make the most of our stay. We understand previous comments about the reception staff apparent lack of customer service but put this down to inexperience. The hotel has a great location and we enjoyed our time in Vancouver and another Fairmont fabulous bed!

Room Tip: Request cone view as high as possible.

We stayed here on New Year's Eve. We received an upgrade city view room and it was newly renovated! The room was very clean. The bathroom was clean however, there were a few hairs in the shower stall floor. Not too concerned about it as we rinsed out the shower stall ourselves. The hotel has a zero tolerance for noise as we were concerned about the aftermath of New Year's Eve party. We arrived there around Noon and our room was ready! We did not expect it but it was great! We ended up exploring first then went to our room. The hotel restaurant Herons is being renovated so they have a makeshift restaurant lounge. It is great. The food is good! We ordered a pizza and my husband and I ended up sharing because it was big! Also, the toppings were generous. Also, in room dining option is available. We had a good time.

We stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront between the 8th and the 11th Jan 2014. It was a quick stop to see Vancouver before we headed to Whistler for the skiing (preferred Vancouver to Whistler!).

The hotel is located on the waterfront, next to Canada Place, in downtown Vancouver, just a block from the Vancouver tourism office. I think we were in room 317 which had french doors out onto a terrace garden. The room was lovely, good size with all the bit's and pieces you would expect from a hotel of this quality. The bed was comfortable, there was a sitting/desk area, good sized bathroom, safe and wardrobes. The staff were friendly and helpful, everything was clean and tidy. There was renovation going on in the upper floors but that didn't effect us at all. Bit of noise during the day but we were out anyway exploring the city, so no problem.

All in all we really liked this hotel. The location is probably the best aspects. It is right by the tourism office (which is really good!), Canada Place, short walk to Gastown, near all the shops and the waterfront/marina. It's also far to Stanley park either.

I would recommend this place if you have the budget. Good efficient, clean, friendly city hotel.

By the way, we loved Vancouver, great city with tons to do and see……….

Room Tip: Scoozies restaurant up the road do great breakfasts!

The hotel has an great location and is central to almost everything. The girls on the front desk were efficient yet lacked any customer service, simply handing over keys and reciting a spiel. Ryan the bell boy was an big exception, he had great knowledge of the area and gave some great recommendations for restaurants. The hotel has a really well equipped gym/fitness centre, which is always a massive bonus. The beds in the room were some of the most comfortable I've slept in besides my own, so that will be a big drawcard for when I return!

Spent several days here on our way to and from Alaska. Rooms were great although we were on the executive floor and the executive lounge provided an excellent selection of food and drinks throughout the day.
The location of the hotel is fanatastic making it easy for walking along the coast and walking into town. Looking forward to a return trip.

Room Tip: great views from the upper floors

The Vancouver-Toronto leg of our trip home after Christmas was cancelled as a result of the Polar Vortex. We waited with our three small children to get a hotel voucher at YVR, but the lines were too long and our kids too tired. So, we called the Fairmont Waterfront. They bent over backwards to accommodate my family. First, they gave us a decent rate, and found a room big enough to accommodate a "cot." The "cot" was a full twin bed, and our kids fought over who would get it. Many hotels don't like families of five, so we were really impressed with the comfortable extra bed. Next, the housekeeping staff member, hearing we were stranded travelers with only our carry-on bags, brought us slippers, and three child sized robes! He ordered us milk and cookies for the kids and wouldn't take a gratuity. The next day we ate at the breakfast buffet. It was very, very quiet (in the basement due to construction in the usually above ground room "Herons". We had the extremely pleasant serving staff to ourselves. They had a high chair, special kids cups, and they even slipped us a doggy bag so we could pack some apples and cookies for our plane ride. Great service, great room, and the kids loved the view of the seabus. And, they gave us an extra late checkout when our flight was delayed until the evening. Fantastic experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Burrard Inlet. Even the lower floors have a great view.
