Our school takes overnight trips to the Mainland quite often (we are from the Island) and can always trust the YWCA to be courteous, understanding of our numerous room requests (sometimes on short notice), and have always given us a great experience.

Our Pathfinder group (girls 12-14 in Girl Guides of Canada or similar to Girl Scouts in other countries) had a 1 night event in Feb 2014. The girls were in 2 quint rooms and the leaders in triple. This was our third year in a row for a 1-night sleep-over event at the Y hotel. The girls love the facility ! It has a great kitchen to prepare our meals, comfy lounge, tv/dvd to watch a movie, friendly staff who provided cooking equipment for us to use. The location is great, as it is close to transit and in the downtown core. The girls felt safe, the rooms were clean and they're already looking forward to returning in 2015. Some of the girls were able to swim at the Y pool a few blocks away which was a highlight for them.

We arrived at 0100, due to a train delay, but were warmly welcomed. The room was basic, but had everything we needed (we had en-suite - good shower), including coathangers, towels and toiletries, which I hadn't expected for the price. And things we didn't use - iron, TV. It was clean, and simply but pleasantly decorated. Beds were comfortable - cotton linen and duvets - and room was serviced each day. No kettle, but there are ample shared kitchen facilities on the floors. Staff on reception were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Location is brilliant, really central and handy for bus stops and Sky train, and not far from Amtrak station (taxi at 1.00 am cost us less than $20). Very close to Robson St for main shopping area. Would definitely use it again. Highly recommended.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post a review! I'm glad that you enjoyed staying at our hotel. Did you know that the YWCA began in Great Britain in 1858? This was the vision of two women. Later the YWCA philosophy and movement became international and in 1894, the YWCA's of Great Britain, USA, Norway and Sweden founded the World YWCA. Today the YWCA Hotel in Vancouver is a Social Enterprise of YWCA Metro Vancouver. Guests such as yourself help to spread the word and we appreciate it very much!

We stayed in a private room with its own bathroom for two nights. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel was in an excellent location, within walking distance to everything we wanted to see, and close to the central train station (where the SkyTrain stops). Every staff member we interacted with was super friendly and helpful.

There were only two minor quibbles: the shower was on the weak side and the wifi was painfully slow at times. Other than that, a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend.

Perfect accommodations for a large group of 17 violinists. Quints available and shared cooking facilities made our stay budget friendly. The front desk cheerfully assisted all of our needs. This is a return trip for our group and would stay here a third time. Location, access to public transportation and building security were tops.

Room Tip: Many sleeping/bathroom options available: be sure to inquire.

Booked for 3 nights with student discount on Canada day. The hotel stuff was extremely friendly and pointed out the place for viewing firework. The room was clean and efficient. Air conditioning worked just fine but was a bit noisy so we turned it on during day time when we were out and came back cool. No meal was included but there were kitchen on different floors and the amenities were good and clean. This is actually the first review I border to write because I feel like more people need to know this hotel.

In a city where accommodation can be expensive the YWCA offers modern facilities at a reasonable price. Front desk service is very helpful-going the extra mile to look after valuables for us and providing useful information about local eateries. Rooms are modern and well laid out witha walk in shower on offer instead of a shower over bath which can be less easy to use.Coffee and tea in the room were however not provided, rather unusual in our experience but could be bought in the foyer at a cafe. Fid location the YWCA is just off Robson near the Sports stadium so about 10 minutes to Gastown/Chinatown and 10 mins to the main shops. Lots of choices for eating are round the corner so no problems there. As a stayover in Vancouver its well worth cinsidering with rates better if you deal with them directly. They have the facilty of free access to a swimming pool and sauna a few blocks away too which ia a bonus
