“The staff make the difference.”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

We recently stayed for 7 days and found the staff very helpful to our every request. Without execution they were friendly, polite and very helpful in giving us destination information and recommendations for restaurants in the area. They even supply umbrellas if required. You are in walking distance to many of the attractions in Vancouver, We stayed on the the 21 st. floor and found the bed very comfortable, the room was very modern with everything you could possibly need, We had a fully equipped kitchen as well as a large balcony which afforded us a great view of the city. Everything was spotless and housekeeping made sure it stayed that way during our stay. The second floor has a pleasant area where the free breakfast offers a wide variety of food. They also have a well equipped exercise area as well as a swimming pool and hot tub. We really appreciated that they took the security of the guests seriously with the key cards on the elevators. We will be back next time we are in Vancouver.

I chose this hotel last autumn and was quite happy with my choice. In downtown Vancouver, hotel is close to Davie street, which is dinning hub and Robson street, shopping paradise. Check-in was smooth, staff was prompt and room as asked for(king size bed on higher floor), was ready on check in. Rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. Typical to residence inn, it had a kitchenette and dinning table. Staff was helpful and ensured there is nothing to complaint about.
Love this hotel in heart of Vancouver

Very well located hotel, walking distance from both harbors and all attractions this beautiful city can offer. the kitchen has all appliances, so if you decide not to go to restaurants, you can cook something for yourself. There is Whole Food just a walking distance from the hotel.
The room was big and accommodating. The bed was great, specious and very comfortable. They use goose dawn comforters.
The only thing I wanted to mention is the parking fee. Even though it is $19 Canadian dollars, but Canada charges 2 sets of fee on it, so don't be surprised if your parking fee would be a little bit higher upon checking out.

This hotel is very well appointed and well located. We could walk to Grandville Island (using the water taxi to cross the water) and to China town. The breakfast is awesome, it was a nice surprise. The personal at the restaurant downstair is quite professional, so are the people at the reception. Overall a great experience.

Room Tip: Not too high so you can take the stairs, (the elevator are a bit slow).

My wife and I had a great room at the Marriott Residence Inn Vancouver. Large comfortable
bed and having the convenience of fridge, microwave, dishwasher etc was a nice 'home' touch
and came in handy. Lots of hot water when needed in the shower and stocked with coffee for the coffee maker in the room. This location on Hornby St.downtown was great, close to lots of stores and other restaurants if you wanted a change of menu. The only disappointment were the pillows.
Both my wife and I found them a bit too thick for our liking. Next time, and we will return for sure,
we will call the front desk to see if they have any smaller-sized pillows. Staff on the desk were were great for directions and suggestions. Thank you, Marriott !!!

Thank you, Peter G., for the great review! Next time (my favourite words!) - request feather pillows. We have some just for special requests like yours and would be delighted to put them in your room.

After longing to visit beautiful Vancouver for many many years, we finally arrived after a 11 hours almost red-eyed flight from Hong Kong, via Air Canada's new Premium Economy class (great for resting and lounging but pretty bad for sleeping!). Too tired with Sky trains, we jumped into a cab and paid Cdn $35 for the 20 minutes ride (more expensive than Singapore's taxis!).

Had chosen this Hotel because it was newly renovated, has spacious rooms and it's rates was very reasonable for a somewhat down town location. Check in around 4pm was swift and our requests to downgrade from a Sky view apartment to a Two Queens apartment (for better sleep) on the 14th floor was granted - thanks indeed. The beds were not only very comfy but they were huge! Wash up and took a nap, venture out for some sushi dinner nearby.

The hotel is located in a somewhat low key area with many cheap restaurants and no shopping. However, it was not too noisy, so we could recover from our jet lags faster. It also has a small pool and I took advantage of it, nice indoor pool with the right temperature (heated, I guess). Wi fi was free and very fast! About 50 channels on the TV and the kitchenette has everything that you would need, even salt and pepper was provided (need only buy cooking oil). The windows are open-able types (great for sensitive nose sufferers like us) and you could even hear seagulls singing from time to time.

Other than the Granville Island ferry (turn left out of Hotel and walk downhill to the Docks) to visit the Public Markets, we had found nothing much of interests near this Hotel. Thus, if you want more shopping or action, stay closer to the Robson Street area. On our last night in Vancouver, after travelling to Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, we stayed at the Hotel Pan Pacific, a somewhat nicer area albeit at slightly higher rates.

And now for the other not-so-goods -
The free breakfasts provided were absolutely the WORST of any hotel we had stayed at, after some 20-30 years of travelling, with faked scrambled eggs given (from liquified or powdered mixtures, I guess). The room was very dark, as with most hotel rooms and the bathroom, very small indeed. No slippers nor dental kit were provided as with most Canadian hotels (as we soon discover later). Hotel was also very stingy with toiletries given and at most times, there was only one Receptionist at the counter (no Conceirge here, so have to wait if he was busy on the line or serving another guest ...).

Overall, we were pretty happy with our stay here. Good value, comfortable stay, great nights of sleep and spacious new rooms. Since the Sky train station is a bit of a walk, we took another cab to the airport for our next destination - Ottawa.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor, two Queen beds room.

Thank you so much for providing such great feedback on your stay. I'm so glad we were able to accommodate your requests during your stay to improve your comfort.

Davie Street is indeed a mecca of restaurants, and Robson Street for shopping is 4 blocks away. For combined shopping and restaurants, a tip for your next visit is to see Yaletown, which is also 4 blocks from the hotel (east on Davie).

I'm sorry you didn't like the breakfast - I understand about egg preferences too. We also provide options such as hot Quaker Oatmeal, waffles, a full cold continental with bakery, yogurt, fruit and cereal. The original Skyline Room you reserved has an upgraded amenity package including slippers, as well as additional types of amenities. For the future, let the front desk or your room attendant know if you need extra and they will be happily provided.

Thank you again for choosing Residence Inn as your first Vancouver hotel. We hope you love the city as much as we do and will return.

Kind Regards,

Suzanne Allemeier, General Manager

This was our second stay here and it's such a great place to stay with kids. The rooms are a good-sized, come with kitchens, and have plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Nice pool and good selection at the included breakfast. The garage is a bit tight for SUVs but we always found a space that fit. Free Wi-Fi was very good. Definitely where we will stay any time we're in Vancouver.
