“Fabulous staff, the most gracious we have ever encountered”
Reviewed 3 January 2011

The hotel is in a very convenient location, close to all types of shopping and restaurants. The view is restricted to partial harbor views due to the new high rises in front of it. The rooms are nice but relatively small. Our stay was made absolutely perfect by the incredible staff at this property. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out it was a pleasure to be there because of the people at the hotel. Our 5 days were perfect (with the exception of the VERY LOUD New Year's Eve party of 1300 guests) , we are planning a summer return. Our only complaint was the hard bed, we did request a mattress pad & were happy with the results.

I stayed at the Marriott as a member of a conference. I flew from NS and ended up there at noon. There was a room available and check in was smooth. The room was clean and well appointed. I ordered a salad and some soup once I got to my room and it arrived within 15 mins and was very good. My conference included free internet and the connection was very good but I am not sure if I would have bothered if it wasn't free. Having said that the Lobby had free internet and the Starbuck's across the road did too.
The breakfast was pricing but good. Only issue there was the potatoes were very obviously deep fried. The rest of the buffet was very well prepared.
The location was great, in the thick of evertything. Staff were very accomodating when I needed them.
I was very happy with this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Check-in went smoothly. Offered upgraded room with harbour view for a minimal cost increase.

*** Well trained staff: emergency took place while staying at the hotel. Called front desk and they dialed 911 immediately. Ambulance arrived within minutes. Upon returning from hospital room was cleaned and front desk manager displayed true concern and professionalism.

The only choice for a great hotel when staying in Vancouver, B.C.

I was at the hotel for a conference. Nice facilities. My room was fairly standard but very clean. Nice linens and comfy bed. I would have expected a mini fridge for the type of hotel. Lobby etc very classy. Security is great. Parking was costly-$26 per day but I was told it isn't their lot. Oh well what can you do. Staff exceptional especially the people who brought room service and cleaned the room. I would definitely go again.

We recently stayed for just one night on a "Priceline" booking. Our check in was swift and courteous and, as always in Marriott Hotels, no mention of Priceline and certainly no "attitude".
We were permitted to use our Marriott Card for "extras" and given a choice of king or 2 queen bed rooms. Chose the King and pleasantly surprised that our acomodation was 2 rooms, a bedroom and sitting room. Lots of space and immaculate with a peek a boo Harbour view. Had we been staying for more than 1 night we might not have liked the fact that there was no television in the bedroom.
I really like this hotel except for the bar area. We had arranged to meet our family in the bar before dinner and there is just nowhere comfortable to sit - the tables are much more conducive to sitting down for a meal rather than relaxing with a drink. Too bad! Next time we'll have a drink elsewhere.

The hotel is a clean, modern looking building, not too far from Canada Place in the north end of Vancouver. It's a cheery companion to the dark, dreary Renaissance across the street, (which, incidentally is also owned by Marriott International).

The rooms range from regular sized to large and the curved corner rooms, which give a great view, although I personally wouldn't pay anything extra for the view.

My biggest complaint about this (and actually most of Marriott's full service properties) is that internet isn't free in the rooms. In this lobby, the wireless internet is free, but inside the guest rooms, you must connect with an ethernet cord (provided) for $16.95 (from 12pm to 12pm). Wireless internet in the rooms, whether or not you even want to pay for it, is just not available in the rooms, no matter what kind of signal your computer picks up!

There is a small swimming pool, a steam room smelling a bit mildewy, and a dry sauna that doesn't ever get too hot, no matter how high the temperature is turned on. Although there is no Starbucks inside the hotel, there is a small restaurant/cafe and a couple coffee places on the same block as the hotel.

I did not use parking at all, so I cannot comment on this.

The immediate area is rather blase and caters to the convention-going crowd. For a more interesting area, head south (place the hotel behind you and on your right) and head to the Granville Street area, the Robson Street area and the Davie Street area.
