Nice hostel. Breakfast excellent. Lots of bagels, cereal, toast, muffins. Quite expensive for a hostel but it's good quality. Rooms are shared with only a few but quite small. Location excellent - very central

I stayed in this hostel the long weekend from the 3rd to the 5th of August. Almost all the other hotels were booked at the time since was a Firework Competition and the Pride parade and this was the only affordable option in Downtown Vancouver. The building itself is a little bit old and the rooms are no exception. We had a private double room with en-suite bathroom that was clean as the rest of the room. A/C was included but we didn't have the chance to use it. Particular mention to the rich breakfast. It is in the very central part of the city, close to bus stops and skytrain. If you are going to spend just a couple of days in Vancouver and don't want to spend lot of money that's the right choice for you.

I love HI but this place really disappointed me. Dark rooms and floors and weird smell everywhere. The staff is average nice but not very helpful. They mix up everything and they keep giving new people for our room wrong bed numbers so everyday there is a new mistake and we have to switch beds. We stayed here a week and they did not (!) changed sheets on the bed for the new people coming in. Less bathrooms. Only good thing is the breakfast. Huge selection. Sorry but I do not recommend this place. I am used to better when booking HI.

If you are looking for a place to stay for a night whilst waiting to head off somewhere else then this place would be more than adequate in my opinion.

The rooms are relatively small and some rooms have no air conditioning which is a bit of a nightmare as it gets pretty hot in Vancouver in the summer. The lockers were big enough to fit my bag and stuff in, make sure you bring a padlock.

The kitchen is an alright size. One thing that annoyed me is that breakfast is 8-10am. If like me, you are doing a Moose Network tour, you get picked up at 8. You can get into the kitchen before but you get moaned at by the people putting it out. Half hour earlier would be a better starting time.

There is a decent common room with some comfy chairs to lounge about in and a small tv room if that's what you really want to do...

The shower rooms are decent, individual rooms but do get pretty busy around certain times. If you take the time to explore you will find not so good shower rooms that are hardly ever used but do the job of keeping you clean so have a look for them.

This is definitely more of a stopover hostel in my opinion. People waiting to go on tours and cruises. If you are looking for a social hostel, this probably isn't the one.

Room Tip: Try and get in a room with air con and ask for a bottom bunk. Bring a padlock. Book in advance.

We stayed in a double room with ensuite, and were very happy. The bed was super comfortable and the room was a good size. There was a little street noise but not really enough to interrupt your sleep. The water pressure in the shower was very low.

The hostel's location was next to a sort of questionable area, but the staff told us which streets to stay away from and where the best nearby restaurants and coffee were, which was very helpful. The included breakfast was good, and they offered all you can eat eggs or pancakes for only $1. The hostel was within a few blocks of most forms of public transport, so it was very easy to get around.

Really good location, close to the shops and other main sights. We booked a double private which was really nice and spacious. The breakfast was good with a nice variety.
The seating area in the kitchen needs to be bigger and there is just a microwave so you can’t cook properly which was a shame but otherwise we had a great stay.

A relatively clean, comfortable, calm place that's centrally located. I only spent one night there, but it was a nice change from some of the other hostels I had been staying at. Breakfast is included-- nothing fancy, but there's enough there to get you started. I'd go back if in the area.
