“Great location, comfortable and delicious breakfast”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at O Canada House. Danny, the innkeeper and chef was welcoming and pleasant to talk to. His breakfasts were unique and delicious. The inn was clean and it had all the amenities we needed including a guest laptop with Wifi. Additional perks were tv in the bedroom, fresh baked goods, tea, coffee and other treats strewn around the house. It is in a great location - right in the West End neighborhood of Vancouver. We walked to all of our sightseeing locations. Only downsides were that our room specifically was off a busy street and we could hear street noise while we were sleeping and the Wifi was down for a few hours on our second day but it didnt put a damper on anything.

Overall, I recommend O Canada House to anyone who wants to visit Vancouver.

I'm in the middle of my stay, in the Penthouse. A lovely room. Unfortunately, I have to go down 2 floors to get online. I promise to update this review as my stay progresses. This is an excellent location for the West Side and the Davie village.

Thank you for the heads up. This problem was with our server and was taken care of within a few hours and your wireless connection was available in the Penthouse and the rest of the property for your entire stay. I hope you continued to enjoy your visit!

Although we have not stayed in other hotels or B&Bs in the Vancouver area we dare to say that you won't find a better place. It is right in the center but the street is quiet, it has a lot of character, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Danny is a fabulous chef and he prepares any breakfast you want. We underwrite all the other positive comments that you read about this wonderful place.

Stayed for a week before cruise and couldn't be more pleased with location, staff and amentities. Yummy home baked snacks and tea and coffee always in kitchen. Wifi first class, with never a hitch. Helpful with booking tours or navigating transport in and around Vancouver. Lovely breakfast, tables close enough to chat with other guests or not. We stayed in Master Suite on ground floor - no stairs are a bonus! Wonderful time. Thank you.

Room Tip: Master suite downstairs was quiet and we never heard other guests going upstairs or even walking aro...

One of the best BnB's we've stayed in - charming 120 year old house - well maintained - location was great - easy walking distance to downtown and our excursions picked us up/dropped off at the door! We stayed in the downstairs Master Suite - very comfortable and very clean -Access to a well stocked kitchen was a nice treat - and an assortment of cookies and treats was welcome!- and sherry in front room - Loved sitting on the front porch as the house is nestled in between apt bldgs and is lushly landscaped - it feels like an oasis away from city bustle - Danny and Flore (hope I've spelled that correctly!) were extremely accommodating and helpful - Helping us w/ reservations for buses (we took the Bolt to Seattle), cabs, excursions and suggestions for restaurants and they even had the Hop-On passes there! Danny's breakfasts were very good - interesting egg dishes w/out the heavy emphasis on syrup and pancakes one often finds, and beautiful fresh fruit. Nice quality herbal shampoos and soap - It is downtown - and there's no a/c (not needed - fans provided) - so there is some street noise but not excessive - certainly not as bad as a noisy unit in a cookie cutter highrise hotel ~ If we go back to Vancouver - would love to stay there again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Master Suite downstairs and on the back of the house- didn't see the other room...

We spent two nights in the Penthouse Suite at O Canada House B & B. The room was very large...the whole upstairs with two king size beds, which were very comfortable. It was very clean, decorated very well. The breakfasts were absolutely wonderful. Daniel is such a great chef...the breakfast were gourmet style. The location was great; we did lots of walking; we went down to the waterfront, took a free shuttle to the Suspension Bridge and did more walking. We felt very fortunate that we had free parking there AND when we did take our rented car, we knew we had a place to park when we returned. Very friendly staff. Hope to return.

We stayed 3 nights in The Cottage Suite at O'Canada House. The B&B main house is wonderful, breakfasts good, wonderful décor, sherry available for guests in the lounge. We enjoyed eating a take-out meal on the front veranda with other guests. The only down-side was the room we had -- called the Cottage Suite. It is actually a converted single car garage! Still has the garage door at the back! There is a tiny patio but very small. Our main complaint was the heat....there was only one tiny opening window above the door. We were advised to sleep with the door closed as animals may visit in the night. It was so hot, we both had very poor sleep and after a very long flight, felt a bit miffed. The bed and bathroom etc were fine and well decorated. It was just so hot in July....would hate to be there in August. We did comment on checking out and were told an air-conditioning machine could have been put in there...wish it had been. The main fault is who-ever converted the garage into an extra income stream could easily have added an additional window on the wall opposite the bathroom. WE were show around all the other rooms in the house by the housekeeper and felt we had drawn the short straw. Would stay again but not in the Cottage(garage).

Room Tip: Avoid the cottage in the summer.
