“Great Value in an Expensive City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2011

Three of us, my husband and I and his sister, had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite at this hotel. Included were a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and glassed-in terrace. The suite was very clean, spacious, decently furnished, and had very comfortable beds. We did not use the laundry facility, but I believe it is available at reasonable cost. The fitness center was unavailable because of maintenance, but there is a pool and jacuzzi. Parking was provided free - - unusual for central Vancouver hotels. The location is 2 blocks from Davie street, which is lined with restaurants. Several banks and bus stops are close by. The manager and staff are all very friendly and helpful. A so-so breakfast is provided. Free shuttle service is provided to downtown locations. My only criticism is that when we asked for restaurant recommendations, the manager had gone for the evening, and the (younger) night staff weren't really well-informed about good food.

Our two bedroom suite had a perfect layout for two couples traveling together. The bedrooms were on either side of the living room/dining room areas. We each had our own bathroom. The furnishings were fresh, modern, and comfortable. The galley kitchen allowed us to put together easy breakfasts or just bring back breakfast items from the one provided by the Landis. It was also nice to have the living room to hang out and chat over a few beers in the evening. There's the neatest little glassed-in space off of the living room. My husband could sit there with his computer, close the sliding glass door, get a little work done, and glance out to watch the world go by below. The location of the hotel was very handy and it was an easy downhill walk to the little boat that goes over to to Granville Island. It was also a short to walk to Yaletown. Among the site-seeing brochures in the lobby of the Landis we discovered some free tickets to a nearby blues club at The Yale Hotel. We had a great time people watching there and hearing a couple of good bands. Parking was pricey, but it always is in downtown locations. Staffers were pleasant and unobtrusive. It's easy to recommend this hotel.

There were so many enjoyable aspects of this hotel; I don't really know where to start. Incredible location, walking distance to amazing restaurants, beaches, shopping and transit to and from the city. The customer service at Landis Hotel and Suites was by far the best I've received in a while. Starting out with the friendly and professional Khaled Ali, the GM of Landis, he was so helpful, courteous and a joy to chat with. He helped us with everything from bike rentals to get around the city to really helpful restaurant recommendations. Our room was so comfortable, clean and spacious. It really was a nice romantic getaway destination. Even the in-room coffee was delicious and it's been a while since I've had really good in-room coffee... I think it was called Canterbury?? Not too sure, but a DELICIOUS way to start or end the day. I think this hotel would be great for all travel and hotel purposes. I personally was there on holiday with my boyfriend, but I think it would be great for families as well as business. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in downtown Vancouver, BC and furthermore, I will definitely stay here on my next visit. There was so much to do in Vancouver... hopefully next time we'll have a chance to get up to Whistler, I hear it's amazing!! Thank you Khaled for your amazing hospitality and sharing your wonderful hotel with my boyfriend and I! We will definitely be seeing you soon!

We stayed in a Deluxe Queen Suite, Room 721, for 5 nights before our cruise to Alaska in the last week in May. It was spacious, extremely clean and very comfortable. The main bedroom had a safe in the wardrobe, a king bed and was very roomy. The 2nd bedroom had a queen bed, which was adequate. We chose this suite as we wanted 2 bathrooms. The main bathroom was roomy with walk in shower and a separate bath tub and two wash basins. The 2nd bathroom was shower over bath and was smallish. Free Wi-Fi in the room was good. Flat screen TV, in each bedroom and lounge area. The staff were friendly, especially the manager at the front desk who directed us to a dry cleaner, gave us discount coupons for sightseeing, and kindly went to much trouble to get me a replacement Rocky Mountaineer badge, that I lost when I did the washing. The lady at the breakfast room was very friendly also. The breakfast was an adequate continental breakfast, perfect for a day’s start. Every day we went for an hour’s walk around the area, down to English Bay, before breakfast; a good way to see downtown Vancouver. Davie Street had good restaurants; Vera’s Burger Shack on Davie, the Kebab shop near Vera’s, Takis Taverna and Thida Thai. 7/11 store across the road and grocery store down Davie St. We went on the Pink Hop on, Hop off bus, good live commentary with friendly staff. The Hotel is in a very convenient area for getting around. We used the complimentary shuttle to the cruise terminal. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Ask for AAA rates.

We only stayed here for a night, but we had a really nice suite, we had 2 bedroom one bath suite and it was very nice! There was a lot of space and lots of windows! The dining room was like on the balcony, it was enclosed by glass windows and doors. The bathroom was large and clean and the bedrooms are decent. Only complaint is that the light switch are in total random places.
There was complimentary breakfast and wifi and apples at the front desk! The breakfast wasn't too bad, there is the usual coffee, tea and juice as well as toast and some individually wrapped muffins, croissant and what looked like ground beef in phylo pastry... (wonder what that would taste like...) The wifi wasn't the greatest even with the route outside our door. However, the hotel next door had great wifi!

All-in-all, this is a great place to stay and I would stay here again! Recommended.

I could not believe everything that was wrong with this hotel, and it has such great reviews. Hotel couldn't have smelled worse, very slow elevators, very hard to find parking in garage, and very low quality overall. Room also smelled, our fridge was broken-however they sent up a replacement fridge within a three phone calls to front desk. Maid service was questionable at best, many nights beds were really not made as for sheets were still at bottom of bed. Bathroom fan was stuck on for entire trip after couple calls, not a big deal just loud. Room has no AC, got a little warm at nights, and with its great location to "Davie" street noise levels were unbearable. Every night an arrest was made outside our hotel that we could see from our windows. This place is for a special type of person, not families. Its location really isn't as great as everyone mentions, you are still blocks away from where you would want to be.

we booked three executive suites in the landis after extensive web search, and checking up with TA of course. i found the landis to be an exact match for our requirements for a downtown vancouver property. travelling with teens we wanted space and comfort, self catering and a good location.
the suite was spacious, with a roomy living room, adequate kitchen ( which we made full use of!), two comfortable bedrooms-one with a king and the other with a queen bed. the decor is on the bland side but the units are pleasant and attractive.the dining is a lovely glass enclosed space. the suite comes with toiletries, an ironing board and iron and an umbrella( a thoughtful touch!). the hotel offers a continental breakfast which is good but carb rich. we had stocked up on groceries including breakfast goodies, so we invariably loaded up trays from the breakfast room and headed back to our rooms to add on eggs, bacon etc for a hearty start to the day.
the hotel also has self laundry facilities at a nominal charge. tea/coffee making is also available in the suites.
the landis is superbly located with granville island, granville street, robson, -all the downtown attractions in fact, located nearby. we walked practically everywhere, and the free downtown shuttle drop was pretty convenient. the shuttle dropped us to the cruise ship terminal as well. do remember to put in a word at the reception in advance since it is gets quite busy.
there is a 7-11 right across the street, which in my opinion should only be an emergency/last resort kind of option to buy anything.
there are plenty of restaurants situated near the landis, with a Subway in every direction i think!
the hotel has a small independent sort of spa, which i didnt have the time to try. though our teens were disappointed that the swimming pool which was to have become operational by May end, (post repairs) was not .the reception area is unimpressive, but the front desk was uniformly friendly and helpful, most so mr. khaled ali, the manager.
the landis suites are an excellent choice fro vancouver, specially families1
