the hotel is located in the heart of vancouver. it's very close to all the happenings. there is IGA around the corner, plenty of small restaurants on your footsteps. the hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful.
room is clean, small and a bit dated. during my time in vancouver, there is construction next to the hotel, i find it a bit noisy at times.
my sleep quality is great, basically no construction at night (for sure).

i highly recommend this place to budget travellers, it is very good for the price i've paid.

Close to shops, transport & easy walking to Gastown, Cruise Terminal, Vancouver Lookout. Lovely breakfast served in a cosy setting - congenial to intermingling with other guests. If you don't mind sharing bathroom down the hall & a smallish room, it was great value. I enjoyed it.

Stayed two nights in Vancouver. Small rooms with full size bed. Spouse and I had the room where you share the bathrooms. Robes and clean towels daily. Great breakfast included -Bagels, toast, coffee tea and juice. Spouse wasn't too happy about sharing but I wanted the experience and was on a budget. Remodeled and quaint. Close to everything. Suggestion to inn - need to let clients know that there are more shared bathrooms for men on floors so please men use those first so women can have use of the other washroom. I would stay here again and my spouse found it worth it as well.

The cheapest hotel I could find in the heart of the business district, close to all the shops, transport hubs and tourist attractions, made this the ideal base for a short stay.
I got to speaking with the manager who asked what I thought of the hotel, "quirky Canadian" was all I could think of and he responded that it was in the "European" style. Don't know when last he was in Europe but budget hotels here are functional (Ibis, Etap) so maybe he was thinking Fawlty Towers?
If you like creaking floorboards - for when you leave your room to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, and wafer thin walls - that let you listen to your neighbour's computer streamed video (there are no TVs), then this is your hotel.
Just wait till the workers start at the construction site next door at 0700. Didn't you ask for a wake up call?

Room Tip: Construction site on right of hotel where work starts at 0700.

Good things: excellent downtown location, 5 minutes walk from City Center station of the SkyTrain, polite staff, thoughtful toiletry set, good Wi-Fi connection.

Bad things: Room had a constant weird smell. Linens and robes were all worn out and stained. Found hair on my bed sheet. Sink in the room totally not functional, you had to keep one hand at all times on the handle to have water, and you have to choose between burning hot or freezing cold. Breakfast is a joke and they shouldn't call it continental, it was just toasted bread with jam or honey, coffee and orange juice. Construction at both sides of the hotel, so it's impossible to sleep.

Bottom line: Poor value-for-money, doesn't worth $85/night exlc. taxes for a small, dirty, smelly, noisy room with shared bathroom. I thought it was a bargain because of the location and the price, but if you ask me now I'd choose something else even if I had to give an extra $20-30/night.

Room Tip: I wouldn't know if there are any good rooms or if there is a difference between them. The hotel...

Stayed here for 1 night with a friend for a conference downtown. It was a very cute older small hotel, clean and well maintained, with lots of old school character. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The location is excellent, in the center of the entertainment district on the edge of Yaletown. No parking available.
They offer a continental breakfast, which seemed to be just bagels and oranges, we settled for coffee.
Overall good value for a downtown stay.

Room Tip: Many rooms use a shared bathroom, so make make sure you ask about the bathroom.

Perhaps we went to a different hotel than the other reviewers? This wasn't the cheapest of the 8 hotels we stayed at during our tour, but it definitely felt it. We stayed here as a last minute booking when our flights were bumped back, as it was advertised (and priced) as a 3 star hotel on the site we booked through. For $111, we got a cramped and dated room with stained carpet and minimal noise insulation, no TV, fridge or mini bar and an almost-double bed with linen so plasticy that shifting in bed was like rustling a plastic bag. The corridors felt pretty dingy, and the single shared bathroom, which serviced all 20 - 30 rooms on the floor, seemed to be always be occupied.
It's reasonable to that when you pay less you get less, but to us the savings simply weren't enough to justify the uncomfortable stay. For only a bit extra there are 3 and 4 star hotels available that would have been better choices.
On the plus side, the reception staff were helpful, the rooms were clean, WiFi was free and the location was convenient.

Room Tip: Ask for one far from the bathroom, otherwise you'll hear the door slam every time a guest uses i...
