I booked the Granville after a previous leisure stay this time for a conference downtown because I wanted the Island experience and am quite happy that I did. The hotel is a boutique hotel, the only one on the Island, and close to all of the attractions but out of the fray. The service is personal and friendly, the base rooms are small but well appointed and the views can't be beat.
To get downtown, you could cab it or drive, but I walked a few blocks past interesting shops to the Aquabus which boated me to Yaletown with another two block walk to the Subway which at the end of a 5 minute ride was another two blocks to the convention center--about a half hor to 40 minutes in all based on connections and seal sightings. On the "crossing" the Aquabus stopped so we could watch seals playing from up close. All in all an enjoyable experience and added some fun to what could have been just another conference. When I return to Vancouver, whether for business or pleasure I'll definitely stay here again. More
