“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2013

Judging by our stay and other reviews this is an old hotel with a fantastic location and rooms that vary in layout and quality. My wife and I stayed for just 1 night pre cruise and although our room was small and dark it was very clean and quiet. The selling point for us was we got dropped off close to the hotel by the Greyhound bus from Vancouver Island and then had such a short walk to the cruise terminal the next day. With the savings on transfers we felt the hotel prices were good value. Had a very good dinner at Scoozi in the next street. Service at the hotel was friendly and helpful. This review is positive based on our allocated room, length of stay and experience. I would suggest being very clear about room requirements when booking.

We spent 3 nights here pre-cruise and were very disappointed with our stay. We had a very small room with a small double bed - I collided with the window air conditioner (scraped skin off my nose) getting out of bed. Tiny, tiny bathroom, enclosed shower measuring only around 1metre square. Room could only be described as appropriate for a single - at best. Staff were friendly, obliging. Location convenient. Handy laundry. Reluctant to recommend.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for your stay, and we sincerely apologize that your stay was anything less than satisfying, and we very sorry to hear about your nose being scrapped by the air conditioner, and we hope you are feeling better.Yes we do agree with you that our rooms and bathrooms are small the reason being the hotel was built in 1918.
Again, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience during your stay, and hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you in the near future.
Thank you, and have a great day.

We spent 6 nights here. The hotel is well located in downtown Vancouver and close to Waterfront and Burrard stations but there is not much to do in the evening/ night in the immediate locality. The Butcher & Bullock Pub next door was a saviour! We had a small room that was quite old with a small double bed.The room was above the street so suffered from late night noise. We were also opposite the lifts and unfortunately some other guests were rather obnoxious and made a noise in the early hours of the morning talking loudly whilst waiting for the only, and slow, lift/elevator.In the morning the cleaners went in and out of rooms and let the doors slam behind them.We did not have one good nights sleep. It was imposdible to get the shower temperature right and if the pressure dropped it scorched you then the slightest touch of the dial sent the water cold.
If you stay here avoid the rooms opposite the lifts.

We chose this hotel due to his close proximity to our cruise port. When we arrived (noon) our room was not ready yet, but they gladly locked our luggage up and let us set our for a day of site seeing. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and even helped me located a Pandora store so I could pick up a charm for my bracelet. We had a King Suite room and it was lovely. Comfy bed and plenty of room to move about. We met friends at the bar for a drink. The bar staff was very slow but very nice. It took 40 minutes to get our food and there was only about 10 people in the place. If we chose to do this cruise again, I would stay in this hotel again.
