I stayed for 5 nights and 3 out of the 5 night the elevator was not working. They did compensate me for this by removing 1 night fee which was reasonable. The decor is pleasant but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. The doors leading to the hall is not an air tight seal light shines through and lights the whole room. The air conditioning\ heating unit is on a motion detector and shuts off while you are sleeping until it detects movement.

Dear valued guest,
First of all, I want to apologize for the elevator inconvenience. It was replaced this year, completely new, and a bolt was sticking out, it caught the clutch and got the door off the rack. I did have to shut it down to make sure it was 100% safe to use as safety is my main concern when it comes to our guests and staff. I did help many guests with their luggage.
Some guests enjoy our old-world charm hotel, some don't. It was built in 1918 and we try to do our best.
Regards

We wanted a good place to stay and rest while attending a week long conference at Vancouver Convention Center. The Days Inn Downtown worked very well for us. The room was clean. The service was good. The price of the room was good. The parking was close by and reasonable with in and out privileges. The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant was good with friendly service, with good food, and reasonable prices.

We were looking for a hotel with an easy access to the Vancouver SkyTrain and this Days Inn certainly filled the bill since it is easy to find about a block and a half away from the SkyTrain. This means no taxi is needed unless you have a great deal of luggage. We found the check-in efficient and the room was small, but nicely appointed with everything the seasoned traveler needs--including an umbrella for Vancouver's rainy days. If it weren't for the water dripping down from the bathroom ceiling and soaking my makeup bag things would have been perfect. Yes, that really happened. I had noticed some mildew type substance on the ceiling in room 701, but it wasn't until the next morning that we noticed the drip from the ceiling. I called the front desk and they said they would send up "maintainance," but when he never showed, I called and complained and we were offered Room 708 (without an apology)" We changed rooms and everything was OK again, but I expected more than "it (the drip) is probably from the room above where someone left the shower on--it happens all the time."

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for your review. Our staff has to go full circle, this means they have to follow-up with a guest to see if their problem was solved. Was the maintenance person in? Is everything OK? And first of all apologize for the inconvenience. We are working every day to offer better facilities and remarkable customer service. All the best for the holiday season.

It was a comfortable, if modest room. I'm not a fan of the type of heating/airconditioning system, common in so many hotels, but it was serviceable.
