“Cheap but run down”
Reviewed 7 September 2012

My family stayed at the Days Inn in Vancouver Metro for a couple nights in July 2012. Would we stay here again? Would we recommend it to friends? It’s a toss-up. The hotel is a 2-3 star hotel. The best thing that it has going for it is its price and its location. If you need to stay in the Metro area and all you’re looking for is a place to sleep then this Days Inn might meet your needs.

One positive about the hotel is that it had free WI-FI – even in our room. The room had an empty fridge so we could store drinks and/or food in it. There was also a microwave in the room. There was no safe. There are lots of restaurants near the hotel but you better like Asian food. There is also a McDonald’s right next door. A couple doors down there is an Esso gas station that has a convenient store.

The hotel does offer a free continental breakfast. Just the basics are provided: cereal, bread, and some muffins. As well, the area for the breakfast is really small and really crowded. We opted to take ours back to our room to eat.

The hotel though is really run down. The rooms are really dated. The carpet in our room was really old and worn. Our room had that musky damp smell. It’s also located on a busy street so depending on where your room is you could hear a lot of street traffic. The hotel is 2 stories but there is no elevator so if you can’t carry your baggage up the stairs be sure to ask for a first floor room. However, the problem with the first floor rooms is that the windows are right on street level or facing the parking lot.

I have uploaded lots of pictures of the hotel for you to get a better picture of what it is like.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for sharing all of your photos of the hotel. I thought I was the only one who took more pictures of hotel rooms than people. Of our 66 rooms, only eight actually face Kingsway. Some of our regular guests prefer the front rooms because they are a little bigger and are better for people watching.

My suggestion to guests is to always do your price checking online and then call the hotel directly to make your reservations. When you are speaking with Staff in the hotel they can answer your questions better and put your requests directly into your reservation.

Other than McDonalds right next door there are many other fast food restaurants, many Asian restaurants, a few family restaurants and The Tipper right across the street. The Tipper is very affordable, the Chef owns and runs it and their menu is in our guest rooms (Canadian Cuisine - homemade soups, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, steaks, seafood, etc). If you feel like staying in your room, their Waitstaff will deliver to your door, with a smile.

Thanks again, Sean Barrington, Operations Manager.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, and it was good. The hotel provides free parking which was good for us. One day we went to the downtown by bus, which was convenient, because there is a bus stop next to the gas station (100 meter from the hotel) from where there is a direct bus to the Stanley Park and it goes through the downtown.
The room was good and clean.

The complimentary breakfast was also good: tea or coffee, cereals, bagel, toast, philadelphia and jam.

Altogether it is a good hotel, with good value for money.

Room Tip: The rooms facing to the Kingsway a bit more noisy (not just the street, but the stairs to the front...

The rooms are a good size with a nice size bathroom, tea & coffe making, fridge ironing board etc.
Great size television with a good selection of channels.
The room was quiet and there is ample parking available.
Opposite the hotle are a number of restaurants as well as a good laundrette.
The selection at breakfast could have been better and the breakfast room a bit small.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and found everything that you were looking for in our neighborhood. We have just had a digital upgrade of our television cable and our guests now enjoy more channels than I have in my home. We are currently working on a breakfast room expansion that will double our seating capacity. I hope you enjoyed Vancouver.

Must admit that we chose this motel because of the price, which was very competitive, especially when compared to the very pricey downtown Vancouver properties. It was a pleasant surprise to find an updated room (new furniture with granite tops), lovely courtyard view and modern, clean breakfast area. The bus stop was very close and we were able to get around easily by public transit.

Room Tip: We were at the front of the hotel and couldn't open the window because of traffic noise. I beli...

Days inn Vancouver metro is a good choice for me because: is not very close to downtown(is located on kingsway street) but very close to hotel there are 2 bus stops,in 20 minuts of bus you can go everywhere you want in Vc, the price is cheap for Vancouver, the room is standard and the brakfast is included to the price. Is possible find better places in Vancouver but not with similar price. I stay 1 week here, i'm satisfaction of this hotel.
To other side to centre you can take bus for go to BURNABY, big Vancouver area, beautiful parks like Central park.

Our guests do find our location and the convenience to both buses and the Skytrain a real plus. There are some beautiful parks and golf courses within a ten minute drive of our location. Thank you for taking the time to write your review and I glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the begining of August. It was easy to find and had free parking at the back of the hotel.Checking in was quick with helpful staff. Our room was on the first floor.Very spacious room, with good A/C.The bed was comfortable and had 2 nights decent sleep. The shower room was on the small side but clean.
The free breakfast was ok,just the usual cereals, toast, bagels, juice and coffee/tea.The breakfast room was pretty small,so you needed to get down to breakfast early.Shame about the plastic cutlery and paper bowls/plates!!
Would stay here again.

Thank you for writing your review. Our central location and free parking are important to a lot of our guests. I am glad that you enjoyed your room and that my staff looked after you so well. I feel that we have a very helpful team.

Our breakfast room expansion is all planned out and the owner is giving up his office for the space to double the seating capacity in the breakfast room. Things do not always happen overnight but we are listening to our guests and we are always trying to improve.

We look forward to welcoming you back, Sean Barrington, Operations Manager.

Don't rightly remember the price, but it was a good buy and included breakfast. If you're driving the location is good, because you can get to about anyplace in Vancouver in ten minutes. If you go at the right time to cross the bridge to North Vancouver, you can get to any place in North Vancouver in 30 minutes. The rooms were clean and quiet and there's a McDonald's next door and a gas station next to it. Also, there is a laundry mat across the street where you can do it or they will do it for you and it's cheap. It has free WiFi.

Room Tip: No elevator and the parking is tight.
