We were staying at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel and decided to try out the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered Tomato Soup with basil, 7oz Cab Sirloin, Free Range Chicken Breast and The Big Foot. Everything was delicious and tasteful. Definitely worth recommending to anyone looking for great food and service.

we loved the service and the food very relaxing atmosfere the waiter was always there for us when needed anything. When we needed anything made up for us that was not on the menu the cooks went out of there way to make it for us, We recommend this resturant for people staying at the hotel and if not just go and have a nice quiet dinner.

My husband and I chose this restaurant because it had good reviews and it was close to our hotel, we were slightly disappointed. Upon arrival the host staff made us feel very welcome-off to a good start! Once at our table we looked at the menu & drink menu's...still good!! Then our server came over...not super friendly, kind of condescending & not very attentive-in my opinion when the restaurant isn't busy patrons shouldn't have to flag down the server to order or ask for more water. The buffalo carpaccio was amazing as was the Fueled up greens with prawns. Unfortunately the server made us feel as if we were an imposition because otherwise it was great!!

After our experience at a noisier eaterie over the road we looked for reviews for places that might be quieter and to our delight Preston's fitted the bill. The entrance is a little confused - being attached to the Coal Harbour Hotel you have to enter a mall like entrance before actually entering the restaurant but once inside we were quickly shown to our banquette and our waitron for the evening introduced herself.

She was to be a delight. The right mix of informal and professionalism. As is frequently the case at Cactus Club there were too many tempting appies to bother with mains so we ordered a slew of appies which were delivered piecemeal to make it easier for us to pace our meal.

The decor and music put me SLIGHTLY in mind of one of my favourite restaurants, Marmalade in Puerto Rico. It wasn't as louche but it was comfortable and the waitron looking after us just accentuated that,

The poutine was awesome - the koftas reminded us to be grateful that we're omniverous. The salmon trio was deliciousas was the bison carpaccio but the standaout had to be the tuna sushi pizza.

Our first choice of wine (Conundrum) wasn't available so we opted for the Blasted Church Chardonnay.

The only SLIGHT niggle is that having expained to the waitron that we like a LOT of water with our meal, after the first three glasses refills stopped. Now we could have EASILY asked for more and it's an indicator of how much we were enjoying ourselves that we didn't even think to!

So basically a less pretentious Cactus Club. (Not that we dislike Cactus Club - it remains one of our favourite chains but Preston's is just mmore comfortable),

Thank Decker
