“Excellent on 11th floor. Noisy close to nightclub on 2nd floor.”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

We were lucky to arrive late afternoon when the nightclub on the 2nd floor were geering up which meant when we entered our 3rd floor room because of the noise we walked straight out and were given a room on the 11th floor which was excellent. Those on our tour staying on the lower floors, experienced sleepless nights because of the noise from the nightclub which continued until the early hours of the morning. The hotel is a short walk from the railway station where frequent trains go to the airport or into downtown. It is also easy to take the train to the next station and walk to Grand Central station to catch the Amtrak train to Seattle or elsewhere.

Arrived late evening it took a bit of finding directions not very clear, it is near to the ice hockey stadium. The staff are friendly but not really chatty, the room was comfortable the bed was a bit firm for us. Moxies restaurant is very nice but pricey. But so is Vancouver in general. Good central location.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions during our trip to Vancouver, first when we arrived in Vancouver and then again when we returned to Vancouver after a 2 week long road trip.

Our first stay, we were put in a room that seemed decent enough, but the bed was rather uncomfortable and they don't actually use a duvet cover, but rather a sheet and skimpy little blanket as the bed linen. The pillows were of poor quality too, like they had been flattened and no matter what you did, they just stayed flat.

We first stayed in the North Tower, there is no room service provided in this block.

The wireless internet is pretty useless, free as it may be, it never keeps a connection for longer than 10 minutes and is quite slow in comparison with other hotels we stayed at, with the same size.

We rented a car for the trip and the hotel charged us $15 excluding TAX to park our car. They say it's safe, but you can get to the parking garage through the hotel, without needed to use a access card or anything, not very secure in my mind.

The area in which this hotel is, is pretty much on the border for the worst part of Downtown Vancouver, (Hastings) which suffers from a great deal of people on drugs, alcohol abuse and homelessness.

On one occasion, in the morning, we were sat in the hotel lobby awaiting a representative from our tour company and we met a girl in the lobby, who clearly was a drug addict, seeking refuge (a warm place to relax) and the hotel staff did nothing about it. I am not saying that they should have called the cops, but having her there, just showed that they didn't care who used the hotel lobby as a half way house. It was an uncomfortable feeling and we left quite promptly.

I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

A tired looking hotel, very noisy due to internal bar booming out music. Although we paid in advance for porterage service our luggage took over two hours to arrive from the lobby, we gave up on departure and struggled on alone. Would not advise as suitable for the more mature couple or anyone expecting to have a peaceful rest.

What an awesome weekend. We had no idea that that hockey was on the weekend we were staying. Wow! We don't get the hockey in Australia and it was awesome to watch. We watched it in the bar on be second floor where we also had dinner - which was yum! The atmosphere there was just amazing. Canadians do love their hockey and it was awesome to experience the canucks win! Wicked street party afterwards.

The staff were friendly and helped us throughout our stay! rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. Was a good location and not far to walk to Granville. Overall a great stay. Will definately be back to vancouver!
