“Really really good!”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

We decided to give this bistro a try after reading lots of good reviews and we were really really happy! We went there for brunch and ordered the Tuna Benny that comes with cabbage salad and home fries which were outstanding! Simple but so good! My husband ordered the short ribs that comes with sauerkraut and croquette, also outstanding! The homemade chili sauce is also really good. I like it because it is not vinegary and very tasty. We will be back!

“Interesting approach to dining”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We decided to try the Oakwood, based on reviews. We were not disappointed. After seating us, the waiter pointed out that the chef's intention was to prepare a menu for sharing. Since we frequently share, the scheme appealed to us. It is not a tapas style menu, but the system works well when it is explained beforehand.

We sampled three items - all excellent, as well as overindulging in the dessert trio. Service was very good, prices were reasonable. The wine was a bit more pricey than expected, but we may be out of touch with wine prices in Vancouver

“Beautiful and homey”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

My husband and I had dinner here a few weeks ago on a whim and it was excellent. Great service, a yummy local beer list, and the food!! I had the warm kale salad - roasted beets, Najib Special-style cauliflower, kale, lemon-parmesan dressing - just perfect and my husband had the short rib poutine and loved it.
It's also a very beautiful restaurant, warm wood, soft lighting - we'll definitely be back.

“top 10 in Vancouver”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

5 out of 5!, only reserved for top 5% of its kind. We came for dinner.
Service was attentive but not overly and the food was delicious, The price was very reasonable.
For some, the servings might be a little on the small side but this is not a problem for our group.
Among our orders were the cream of artichoke soup, kale salad, tagliatelle pasta, halibut cheeks and cornish hen. All recommended. Contrary to some review comments, the veggies that came with the kale salad and some other dishes were not deep fried but roasted which is much more preferable and healthier.
Car parking is available free by the roadside. The music was a little too loud for my liking, and the lighting could be brighter to make reading the menu easier. Small issues, really.
Make your reservation several days ahead to be sure of it.
