Just enjoyed the day tour of select BC wineries. Swallow Tail put together a fun and simpatico group of four plus our friendly and knowledgeable guide Wayne. Nice attention from the folks at five vineyards, especially the side-by-side tasting at Back Yard and the guided walk through the vineyard at Vista D'oro. Wayne also set out a relaxed yet elegant al fresco lunch which included gazpacho, dessert, and a glass of our new favorite wine. Swallow Tail got all the details right, and added some thoughtful extras as a bonus. We were thoroughly pleased with our day!

What a lovely way to get out into the Fraser Valley and enjoy some local wines- I really enjoyed our small - just 4 of us- tour. Wayne was a gracious host and answered all our questions about the area. We stopped at four local wineries for tastings. All were excellent. We picnicked in the garden at Township 7 - delicious lunch from chef/Swallow Tail Tours owner Robin. Really enjoyed our tour of the vines and orchards at Vista D'ora- a small farm that produces lovely wines and jams. I would recommend Swallow Tail for a lovely day.

We have been to at least four secret supper events organized by Chef Robin of Swallow Tail Tours. Each was creative, delicious and a lot of fun, whether we were eating with a small group in a private art gallery, enjoying a spectacular barbecue in the chef's lovely serene garden, or at a spectacular dinner in a gorgeous lakeside house with an Alice in Wonderland theme.

This time I opted to take my husband on a crabbing adventure to celebrate his birthday. We had no idea what to expect but it was an unforgettable experience. Early on a gorgeous sunny Sunday evening we met up with Chef Robin's delightful assistant, Kyle, at Jericho Pier and joined a horde of local fishermen (and women) trying to snag a crab or two for dinner. Kyle, who has a biology background, knows everything there is to know about crab fishing. He taught us how to bait the traps, cast them into the ocean and in 15 minutes, pull them out, more often than not laden with crabs. Unfortunately we had to throw back most of them as they were either females or undersized males, so we also learned a lot about sustainability of the crab fishery. There is a real sense of camaraderie on the pier: fishermen check each other's nets, watch intently as the larger crabs are measured and commiserate when a crab is slightly undersized and can't make it to the plate. It was so much fun that an hour just flew by.

Meanwhile Chef Robin was at a picnic table further up the beach, putting together a delicious meal...seafood soup, fresh caught crab, bread that's to die for and fresh strawberries with goat cheese cream. We learned how to dispatch our catch and the best way to cook it, which we successfully replicated with a second crab that we were given to take home. If you don't catch a crab that falls within size guidelines, Chef Robin always comes prepared with crab in her cooler. We really loved sitting at the beach, sipping wine, enjoying the glorious view and eating wonderful fresh food in the company of two warm, informative guides.

Highly recommended for tourists who want a memorable westcoast dining experience and locals like ourselves who have never been crabbing or cooked and eaten fresh crab in the open air. Next Swallow Tail trip? Foraging for wild mushrooms in the beautiful Lynn Valley watershed. I honestly can't wait.

My friends and I attended a Swallow Tail Dinner event called Carnivoria, food prepared by Chef Robin. We enjoyed bison ribs, ping gai chicken - which were delicious, and pork that had been slow roasted for hours. It is BYOB, so my friends and I brought several bottles of wines to pair with our meal. Suggestions on what types of wines to bring are offered prior to the dinner event. Everyone sits at a long table, so you get to know the people around you. It was a beautiful warm sunny evening and we all had such a lovely time. Can't wait to attend another event!

I booked this as a fun experience for my partner as a 40th birthday present. We both had a great time! The organizers arranged a perfectly beautiful day for it.

We learned new things about our city, left empowered to go crab fishing on our own in the future, and learned a way better technique for cooking crab that we intend to emulate from now on. Robin and Kyle were warm and friendly hosts — we thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with them. I would recommend this experience to Vancouverites and visitors alike. Oh, and the crab lunch on the beach was delicious. That elderflower goat-cheese spread for strawberries is amazing!

I am excited that future beach trips can easily incorporate crab fishing in to an otherwise lazy day activity Score!
