“Absolutely the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2004

opus hotel is absolutely the BEST hotel i ever stayed at period. when we walked in we were treated with the utmost respect and reverence as if we were royalty. i absolutely hate it when i walk into a hotel and get treated badly by robotic or fake staff or average as if i'm just another number. we did NOT get this at opus. they treated us as if we were old friends returning.

they let us pick our room colors and everything was absolutely gorgeous. the bed was big and fluffy, the couch was chic, the bathroom was amazingly beautiful with heated tile flooring, a TRULY luxurious spa shower and tub. i loved the gorgeous sink with sushi dishes for the soap and amenities. (they have l'occitane amenities which were super high quality.)

we headed out for some touring of vancouver and were pleasantly surprised when we returned to find a very nice party going on in our lobby lounge. it was the hippest place to be in town, so we happily went upstairs and changed and then returned to the lobby to party with the rest of the people. we were elated that we didn't have to "find" a place to go out to that night. no need! we were already in the place to be!

the decor at the opus is really outstanding. it's everything i look for in a hotel. no fake "english" ugly draperies, or obvious patterned bedding to hide the dirt. no crappy "hotel" furniture or awful color schemes. this place is modern and chic as if i would like to do my own living room or bedroom. there are no bad SURPRISES when you go here. you don't get stuck with weird rooms or dirty rooms. it's the best place in vancouver by far it should be number 1.

We visited Opus on US Thanksgiving weekend. When Opus was good, it was very very good, and when it was bad, it was not that bad because they recovered well.

Good: When I made reservations, they waived the $25 a day parking fee.
Bad: I had to ask them to waive it.
Good: Excellent directions. easy to find, Great location.
Bad: The only visible place to park for reservations is the valet parking spot. We parked in the alley, and the registration clerk immediately asked us to move to the valet parking spot because tow trucks were fast and silent for alley parking.
Good: They upgraded us to a suite without asking---and the suite was great. I could have lived in the bathroom, complete with soaking tub, separate shower, and heated floor. Some confusion as to whgether the room was made up---at 4 pm! More on that later.
Bad: The bathrobe was small and a bit threadbare. The tub faucets had been installed in reverse so hot water was labeled cold and vice versa. A nice desk, and nice chairs---but dim blubs everywhere. One of the bed lights wasn't plugged in (nor was the clock radio) and when i went to plug them in, I couldn't find the plug,. which was behind a heavy bed. Toll-free calls cost $1.25 plus tax. Everything not nailed down seemed to have aprice tag.
Good: Someone came up within two minutes to plug in the fixtures. Globe & Mail paper delivered to your door---even th ebig Saturday edition.
Bad: The clock radio went off at 5 a.m. because they hadn't reset it, and the thing was so new-fangled designed that it was near impossible to figure out which button to press to shut it off.
Bad: First night turn-down: No pillow cases on the pillows under the pillow covers. The maid failed to latch the door on leaving. Inconvenient to get to your car in the locked, valeted garage--only parking available. Loud street noise on Friday and Saturday nights.
Good: The second night was completely different: Latched door after the turndown. Chocolate on the pillows. Water bottles. Bathtub faucet fixed. Pillow cases on the pillows.
All in all, if I get another Internet deal, I'd go back, if only for the great bathroom. But it's not worth it without a deal.

We stayed at the Opus Hotel 11/12 - 11/14. The hotel is modern, comfortable, has a personal feel, like staying at a fine home, very comfortable beds and terrific bathrooms. This is a special place. The location in Yaletown is ideal for exploring the city and finding anything you may want.

The staff was friendly, accommodating and immediately said yes to any of our requests - they greeted us at the door with a sincere welcome and that attitude was expressed by every staff member during our stay, from the doorman to the front desk to the General Manager.

We called Guest Services for ice - and the ice was delivered in less than one minute - and I'm NOT exaggerating.

It's rare to find a hotel that provides such a seemless, consistantly positive and relaxing experience - We'll be back.

After reading the positive reviews about the Opus, we decided to spend 4 nights there. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready but the staff at the front desk offered us 2 free cocktails at the bar. When we arrived at the room, it did seem a little on the small side, although we had booked a Standard room, however the decor and attention to detail was brilliant - particularly when a staff member would ask if we wanted complimentary bottled water and chocolates, she would also present us with a card detailing the following day's weather!

We really enjoyed our stay....the staff were helpful and attentive. The location is great and on my return to fantastic Vancouver, I will definitley stay at the Opus!

I actually live in Vancouver but I was looking to earn some brownie points with my girlfriend. I decided to book a room at the Opus since it is know here as a hip hotel. I booked one of the suites - and....well, it was sweet! The room was a good size, bathroom was great with a big shower and tub. We felt like rock stars staying there. Staff was friendly - which is always important. And the best part of all my girlfriend loved it. I think we will do it again next year!
