“Good value option for Vancouver”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

This was my first trip to Vancouver and my first interaction with the hotel staff was through their excellent directions on how to get to the hotel. The hotel is on Robson Street and while it is further away from the city centre, it was an easy bus ride or a 15 minute stroll into the centre of town. The room itself as huge, with a separate twin bedroom and a large living space and kitchen. My one gripe was with the bathroom and the position of the toilet which was very uncomfortable for a tall or larger person. However the rest of the bathroom was fine.
While this is an older property, the rooms are kept very clean. There is a complimentary breakfast for guests, which is nothing fancy but gets you started for the day and was appreciated. I was more than happy with the quality of my stay here, it is considerably better value than many other properties in Vancouver and I would certainly consider staying here again if I return to Vancouver.

I couldn't have asked for more friendly and helpful staff during my stay here. There were no elevators, and I've got a bad back, so they kindly offered to bring my case up to my room, up 3 flights of stairs.
The room, a superior suite was perfect; a self contained room with kitchen, bathroom and two king sized beds. The only problem was the heat. No air conditioning, and I had to rely on opening the windows which let in the traffic noise.
The breakfast was good, but fruit and cereal would have been nice too, rather than all of the bagels and croissants.
Overall, a really nice place to spend a few days - great location too.

it's my first visit to Vancouver, only want to select with the best downtown which is clean and convenient to walk everywhere is this compact city, doesn't want to pay a premium price.
Hotels in Vancouver are not cheap, looked into a few before hand and read the comments from the others who stayed in Greenbrier, they are right, good location and very friendly service. Clean and renovated rooms, walking distance to all major downtown attractions. Room is comfortable by what I paid for, restaurants supermarket malls convention centre airport skytrain terminal are all within walking distance. The receptionists are very friendly and gave me all the advices. This hotel is a very good choice for 1st timer to Vancouver if you don't want to pay too much and not for long stay.

I recently stayed at the Greenbrier for 2 nights on a family trip - my Aunt was getting married just around the corner so it was a good location. There was a large group of us in from Toronto (about 15 ppl in 6 rooms) and the hotel accomodated us no problem. Since they have little kitchens in each room we were able to have a Family party on one of the nights, just like we were at home.

The rooms are very large, almost apartment style, but very basic (not a bad thing unless you are looking for a luxurious hotel with a spa and 4-star dining). Our room was on the 1st floor and partially underground so we had a "lovely" eye-level view of the parking lot of the hotel next door. My sister and I ended up sleeping on the pull-out couch and surprisingly it wasn't uncomfortable.

They don't have a restaurant but in the morning they offer some pasteries and coffee. Not a huge inconvenience because there are a bunch of different places to eat near by.

Cons: No elevator. My mom has a bad knee so it was a hassle for her. Luckily we got a room on the first floor but from the parking garage there is still 2 small flights of stairs (she actually lost her footing on the way down to the parking - very slippery!).

Overall, the Greenbrier had a great location and if you aren't super picky and don't mind a basic, clean hotel with no extras, it is an affordable choice and close to the great attractions Vancouver has to offer!

Room Tip: If you don't mind the walk, I suggest getting a room NOT on the 1st floor. View is better and th...

We stayed at the Greenbrier Hotel for 4 nights early May 2013. It was a very cheap option, and one of the few places we could find that would allow our 3 children to stay with us in the room.
The room and bathroom was not fancy, but it was very spacious and included basic kitchen facilities (large fridge, stove, sink, some crockery) . They don't put all the crockery, cutlery, pots etc in your room unless you ask. We did this but the stuff provided was pretty basic - and since there was a lot of cheap food options around the hotel we didn't end up cooking major meals in the room.
The basic breakfast included with the room was good. It included coffee, milk, toast (butter, jam etc), and a limited selection of croissants/bagels/muffins depending on the day and what time you got down there. This was fine though to get us going in the morning.
The hotel is only ground floor and 2 levels above - so no elevator and you need to use the stairs. Parking in the basement for $20 a night.
The girls at the front desk were very helpful and happy to provide info etc.
Good location close to lots of bike hire places - ready for a ride through Stanley Park close by, or the longer ride around to Granville Island which we did too.
Overall basic rooms, but good value for the cheap price we paid.

The cons are that there's no elevator or AC. We were there in April so no need for AC. It was a great location for walking to downtown, Coal Harbour and to the Seawall and the little ferry to Granville Island. The kitchen was a great plus especially the fridge. Breakfast was included but simple ( tea, coffe and juice) Toast, bagels and muffins. Fruit (apples) was not always available. WiFi was included and there was self-service laundry available. The room was very spacious with a TV. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We didn't have a car so we didn't need parking.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to Executive Deluxe when we checked in. This was good since we spent a week there

Although the Greenbrier has a simple look from the outside, the rooms are very clean and spacious, and ours had an amazing view of Coal Harbour. The kitchen was perfect for our use and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating to our every need. We could easily walk to English Bay, False Creek, downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. Amazing value for money!

Room Tip: Ask for room 106, or the two rooms above 106, so that you have the great view of Coal Harbour and th...
