“A really good place for lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

If you're a tourist and you're close to the Olympic Torch at lunchtime, walk westwards for about 5 minutes to Bute St. and you'll find the best value for quality food at Urban Fare. It's a cafeteria style menu but they have an amazing variety of dishes from Lamb Shank to BBQ chicken with sandwiches and salads to satisfy just about anyone's appetite.
You can sit down and look out on Coal Harbour, The North Shore mountains and Stanley Park and tuck into a really hearty meal for well under ten bucks a person ( I think they even have reduced prices after 2 pm but don't hold me to that)
On the last visit I had half a BBQ chicken with mashed spuds and veggies and my pal had the Lamb Shank with rice and green beans. The both of us had trouble finishing, but sheer will power got us through. Once you're finished you can relax and watch the west coast people coming and going.
They really seem to have the West Coast franchise on beautiful customers at this place and half an hour can fly by as you watch the girls come and go, each one impossibly more attractive than the one before, confirming that Vancouver has the best looking girls in the world.
They are in limitless supply, and when you combine this with the food and the friendly atmosphere there's not many better places to spend an hour or two.

“Alberni Street off Thurlow”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2014

Good selection. Prices about 20% higher than other parts of BC. Watched a horrible interaction between a clerk and a Chinese tourist couple. Clerk was very rude & condescending & couple eventually cancelled their entire order. I sincerely hope this is not how they view the rest of BC & it's residents. The manager should have been on top of this but only arrived to approve the refund. The incident happened on the evening of Jan 26.

“Good Take Out or Eat There”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014

Deli had many items for breakfast and lunch. I had the fruited oatmeal which was enough for 2 people and my husband had an omelet which came out nice. Nice seating area with windows looking out onto the street. The grocery was a jumble so it was time consuming to shop.

“Great choice and value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2013

Just popped out for a quick bite and found this Urban Fare, centrally located on Bute Street one block from the float plane terminal. They're message is "food is our passion" and it was certainly true here today. A great range on offer at the deli for lunch, I had the excellent chicken pot pie. The staff are friendly and the value is great. Attached to the deli a really high quality supermarket, offering a wide range of produce. If you like a good deli give this a try.
