The hostel is legit. Standard hostel rooms of course, but they were clean, safe and had fans in each bed. The bar downstairs is chill and has the best beer price on Granville (cigs too).
The kitchen was massive and had everything you needed to make a meal (they make white rice everyday and keep a giant wok in the fridge for free). The outdoor deck wasnt picturesque but it served as a good pregame spot.
If I had to point out one flaw, this is my personal preference, is that I wasnt a huge fan of the Granville location. Granville is one of the most popular streets in Vancouver w/ shopping, food and good ppl watching. However it gets prwtty annoying after day 3. At night it turns into a dirty nightclub scene and I eventually realized that the food was either expensive & decent or fast-food.
Gastown was more my style. Which had small bars, great breweries and a more local atmosphere. Which is only a 5-8 minute walk from the hostel.
Samesun was the best hostel we stayed at and Ill be back again.
