We have a 1.5 year old daughter so a regular hotel room just isn't an option anymore. The one bedroom suite was perfect. Modern and spacious and it had everything we needed. It was great to put the little one to bed and still be able to enjoy ourselves with the fire place and some nice wine.
Location was perfect, so close to so many restaurants plus a 2min walk to a grocery and liquor store. Stanley park is minutes away for that early morning jog or stroll, not to mention the aquarium for the kids!
Will absolutely be back again in the future.

We visited Vancouver for about a week so it was great to have the space and privacy of an apartment. Times Square Suites are well located in a quiet part of West End, away from the noise of downtown but very close to local facilities such as restaurants and shops. Handy location opposite the Safeway supermarket if you want to self cater with good kitchen facilities in the apartment. The laundry facilities in the room are great if like us you are travelling for a few weeks. Reception staff were very helpful, allowed us to check in early as we arrived around 8am which allowed us to have a sleep in and get over our jet lag from travelling from Oz. Very central to Vancouver, you can catch the bus to downtown from opposite the Safeway, good tip is to go and buy a book of bus tickets from Safeway if you are staying for a few days. But it is also a fairly quick walk to downtown, if you walk along the pedestrian walkway along the seawall it only takes around 10-15 minutes to reach Canada Place.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room away from main road

We stayed at TSS for 9 nights over Christmas and my family of five (parents & 3 teenagers) can not have enough good things to say.We arrived at 11am from Australia and to our delight were able to check in straight away. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was actually 2 one bedrooms with adjoining doors. The benefits of this were two kitchens,bathrooms,washers,4 Tv's and the kids each had a bed. The rooms were very comfortable,clean and warm and the supermarket across the road was a bonus to be able to cook dinner. Shopping, Stanley Park and quick access to everywhere in Vancouver is easy from TSS. We have no hesitation in in recommending TSS, fantastic for us.

Having bookended our trip to Whistler for a white Christmas with stays at Times Square Suites, we only have one regret......we didn't lengthen our time in Vancouver at this hotel. The room was extremely comfortable and fitted out with everything you could possible need to enjoy the stay. (loved the beds!)
The staff were extemley helpful and friendly - even took our kids up to the rooftop to show them a snow man they had built! The location is great for Robson St eating and shopping and close to Stanley Park.

Room Tip: The den is not large (but our 14yo enjoyed his "man cave") so if you are travelling with 5...

We stayed for 9 nights over Christmas and only have good things to say about staying at Times Square. Great location - ok so it's not downtown but there are two good bus services within the vicinity and in any case, why not walk? We did several times down Robson to the shopping centres,down Denman to English Bay and the short walk to Stanley Park.

Plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity and a large supermarket and liqour store just over the road.

Lots to do in Vancouver all covered in various guidebooks but our highlights were on Christmas eve flying by sea plane to Victoria on Vancouver Island where we had afternoon tea in the Empress Hotel (which was even more of a special occasion than it normally is due to the Victorian carol singers) and on Christmas day taking the scheduled coach along the "Sea to Sky" highway to Whistler Village where we experienced the "Peak to Peak" cable car and enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the top of Whistler Mountain.

Our apartment was a "One Bedroom and Den" on the corner of Robson and Denman. The living/dining room area overlooked both streets with a wide sweeping window across.Good sized kitchen with decent crockery and utensils. Both bedrooms were perfectly adequate in size and beds were comfortable. The whole apartment was warm and cosy, clean and had everything we needed to make this one of the best Christmas's ever. We really can't fault it at all and this will be our first choice if in Vancouver again.

Four issues with this hotel spoiled our experience: noxious smells, refusal to give us early check-in, our suite not being ready despite booking the extra day, and the size of the “den.”

Most importantly, noxious smells permeated the elevator, the hallways, and our suite. The hotel had been recently painted (with “new VOC paints”) and carpet laid. We believe we also detected very strong old-fashioned cleansing supplies. We toured the hotel and found the horrid smell throughout so we didn’t bother asking to change rooms. My brother, who has chemical sensitivities, visited us and stayed only five minutes before leaving with a headache.

Secondly, after emailing we would be arriving from Australia in the morning, the hotel said they could not guarantee an early check-in, and charged us $90 for an extra “night.” Ironically, when we checked in at 9.30 a.m., the room was not ready. We had to ask staff to come up to hang curtains on two windows (it took them three trips).

Finally, the “den” we booked for our son had room only for one single bed and a wastepaper basket. He left his suitcase in the living room.

Overall the hotel did not live up to expectations. Staff did not inform us in advance of the recent painting or newly laid carpets and allow us to decide whether to risk the fumes. They recommended that we pay $90 for an extra night (even though we needed only five hours) so that they could guarantee that our room was ready (though it was not). And the design of the one-bedroom and den suite did not meet expectations. So, one star for this poor experience.

Room Tip: Ask if they have painted or changed the carpets recently or if there is anything else you should be...

We are disappointed to hear about the problems that you encountered during your stay with us. As an independent hotel with a close team, we take pride in providing all our guests with the best possible experience. Based on the overwhelmingly positive comments, this is often the case.

In your instance, we regrettably fell short of your expectations in the following ways:

1. New carpet was installed in the hallway and your suite had been freshly painted in the week prior to your arrival. I checked that suite myself and allowed it to be open for occupancy. Unfortunately, everyone has different sensitivities;

2. In mentioning the noxious smell, I am at a loss as to what this could have been. The products we use within the hotel are selected for the health, safety and comfort of our guests and our team; they must also meet our environmental principles;

3. Your suite selection, our One Bedroom & Den, is described as having a single bed in the den (it is identified as a den since the footprint is not as large as a bedroom);

4. We suggested that, since you were arriving early in the morning from a long flight, that you might consider reserving the suite for the evening prior to arrival to guarantee an early check in. As a result of booking the additional night, we were able to offer a discounted rate for your entire stay using our value special (which requires a minimum three night stay); and

5. After the updates to your suite, we neglected to re-install one set of blinds which had been taken out for cleaning. Based on our notes, your call to the front desk enabled us to rectify this within the hour.

It was disheartening to find out after your departure that you had the additional issues beyond the missing set of blinds. As you can appreciate, it would seem natural that any further issues would also be communicated during your stay.

If these further issues had been shared with us, we would have many options to make things right. The first we learned of your discontent was in an email sent after you had left Vancouver. We sent a same day response and we still have not had a reply from you. We pride ourselves on tending to guest needs to take care of any requests and/or concerns while you are staying with us. This is not only for our mutual benefit but most importantly because we want you to love your Vancouver experience.

The Times Square Suites are effectively a group of serviced small apartments, a perfect arrangement for a couple or small family to be based in Vancouver. Absolutely spotless inside, well appointed, good location at the Stanley Park end of Robson Street and within a 'stones throw' of decent restaurants on Denman Street. Unfortunately my flight was delayed so I ended up only staying one night, so did not get full value from its location, but would definitely stay again. I've rated it 4 star because of the following limitations; the apartments are not cheap, but you are getting what you pay for; it has an odd entrance and reception, which are not in keeping with the price point (main reception in the basement, adjacent to the car parking); it is quite a walk to the excellent public transport system in Vancouver.
