I just saw The Tempest and it was excellent in every respect. The two ladies who played the traditionally male characters of Stephano and Tricula were very entertaining and all of the other actors were excellent as well - especially Ariel and Caliban. This was a matinee on fireworks night with a BBQ dinner included (which was excellent), but I would go on a regular night next time since the traffic and crowds were horrendous. It would be a good idea for Bard on the Beach to have traffic control people around the area to assist with the parking lot exits. Also, the washroom facilities could use a bit of an upgrade from portable toilets, but I understand that this is a seasonal production.

If you are in Vancouver when Bard on the Beach is on, don't miss it. For those who have forgotten how much they liked Shakespeare, this will remind you. For those new to the Bard, this is a great introduction. The setting is amazing. See something in the big tent! Bravo to all the performers in The Tempest! -- Take the 44 bus from near Canada Place and get off after you cross the bridge

The setting overlooking the bike paths and oceanfront through the open stage is breathtaking. The play's the thing . . . .

We saw "Midsummer Night's Dream" last night at Bard on the Beach, and it was a terrific night out. The theatre space, which opens up behind the stage to frame trees and sunset, was magical. The performance was pacey, punky and absorbing, with a largely youthful and wholly energetic cast ensuring that there was plenty of entertainment to be had, from the poetry and from their own performances. The atmosphere at Bard on the Beach is great, and if you're spending a couple of nights or more in Vancouver, it should be at the top of your must-do list for evening entertainment.

We have been going to Bard on the Beach at least once a year for over 7 years. The performances have always been outstanding and being at a Shakespearean play with the Vancouver water in the background of the stage is magical.

With their enhancements a few years ago of reserving seats it just got better!

Not to be missed for people who live close by and for visitors. Truly a Vancouver Treasure!
