We saw Midsummer Night's Dream-fantastic production-we saw Hamlet here a few years ago-the Bard was one of the reasons we went to Vancouver this summer. One of the great attributes of Shakespeare is the actors and Directors have so much latitude for their interpretation-that is one of the reasons to want to watch different productions!

The last time we were her, the tent was smaller, the stage was in the middle and audience sat all around. The seating is more comfortable, the tent seems to be more permanent-during the middle of the play the rain came down hard-no problems!

We will wait and see what they produce next summer, we are thinking of going back there-of course, there are other reasons to visit Vancouver!

Thank alumnus

We saw "The Tempest" on the only stormy night in July. Unfortunately the cold wind and rain drowned out some of the dialogue and we both got chills even though, being good Vancouverites, we had raincoats with us. BotB is a unique Vancouver institution and the location, in tents in Vanier Park, is a great place to visit. It's only offered in the summer. The acting we've seen varies a bit, but that happens with any live performance.

Although we enjoy theater, we are more of a casual theater goer. This company makes Shakespeare relevant to the modern audience. While it didn't change the original plays, it was extremely creative in its presentation. We had planned to go just one evening, but loved it so much, we went back for a second time during our stay in Vancouver. The venue was beautiful, particularly the main stage. Definitely don't miss this attraction when visiting the city.

I had high hopes for Bard - wanted to go for years.

The small venue was great - every seat seems good. Was not crowded. Most of the actors were good. Some stood out - others made me want to walk out.

All the volunteers were excellent. Can not say enough about how helpful and happy they all were.

Price was fair for what you got. And concession prices were not bad.

The biggest disappointment was what the director/ producer did to the story and presentation. Not the actors fault, and not the venues fault. But was a real shame. Shakespeare meets Monty Python - and not in a good way. I'm not trying to be harsh, but I have honestly seen High School presentations that were more engaging and true to the story. Was such a let down that it took away from the nice surroundings.

Will try going to another presentation in future years, but a far cry from good theater.

Bathrooms were horrible. Be warned. Have to imagine it's pretty nasty to go to this event when it's raining. I would eat the cost of the ticket and do something else.
