I went there recently for a GNO whit my family and I think it was a wonderful evening. We had a great time watching 'the bad boys of dance'!! Beautiful architecture makes you feel like royalty when entering. Definitely worth a visit!

We (a senior couple) went to The Centre for the first time, during a recent two-night, December stay in downtown Vancouver, and attended a performance of Goh Ballet's 'The Nutcracker'.

We had never been inside The Centre before, and as well, had never attended a ballet, so we were especially excited by the prospects of finally going there, experiencing the venue, and our first live performance of a ballet. And especially happy that it was to be a Goh Ballet production of The Nutcracker (which has always been so-favourably received in Vancouver).

We much-enjoyed everything!!

-- the auditorium and our seats. We had great, nobody in front of us seats in the dress circle, with a full, unobstructed view of the stage and all the happenings - just perfect!! And the seats were comfortable, and 'cushy'. We liked the ambiance, including the temperature within the auditorium (which did not get warm, as it often does in some theatre auditoriums once everyone arrives, and get seated).

-- the wonderful Tchaikovsky music. The music was performed by the Vancouver Opera Orchestra - so-expressive and beautiful, and performed so well.

-- Goh Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. What a fabulous delight to the senses - from start to finish, continual offerings of such colourful sights and sounds. I think the two of us were held spellbound throughout the entire performance.

The downtown stay and night at the ballet, was our Christmas gift to each other this year, and it turned out to be such a lovely one. We left The Centre with so many wonderful and lasting memories of our evening.

Theatre had some very interesting things lined up. The line up appealed to a wide range of people. Affordable. Good line up.

Some great acts perform here. The acoustics are terrific. The shows can be a bit pricey but generally worth it. My only complaint is that there are not even washrooms for women. Very friendly staff.

The theatre itself, while usually not open, is really not the attraction. If there's a good show there, then go, but plan on wishing that the show was somewhere else - Orpheum, Vogue, Commodore even. The lobby is poorly planned, the acoustics are really terrible, the lighting isn't very good, and it was really cold in there!
It was built to house Broadway shows, and maybe it works ok if that's what is presented, but I don't think they've presented musicals there in a long time...
I'm glad the Jazz Fest no longer has shows here!
