“Disabled accommodation A+ & Customer Service”
Reviewed 1 July 2012

We stayed in June 2012 and found from the moment we arrived it catered to our every need. Room was great - seat in the shower wasn't quite right for my husband and they bought up a shower seat straight away which is just like the one my husband used at home. Nothing was too much bother - they were happy to run us around and drop us off and this too was disabled friendly - the London Taxi with a ramp. There was a computer for us to use which was free of charge and gym was good too. Only thing was maybe the restaurant, it was fine but there were steps up to certain parts and just 4 tables to choose from on the level. Great location handy to everything.

We were excited to stay at the Loden based on reviews but we got was beyond expectations. The front desk and bell staff were first class! Great recommendations on places to eat, visit and how to get to each location. Complimentary car service and bikes were an added bonus that we did not expect either.

Each night when we came back to our room, the ice bucket had been recently filled and when we didn't realize this on the first night and called the front desk to ask where we could go to fill up our ice bucket...they replied, we will have ice right up. They could've replied, look inside your ice bucket you idiot, but they didn't. They simply said "right away". Very gracious.

I could go on and on. There should be a case study written on this hotel on how to care for your guests! Would stay here again a hundred times over!

Stayed at Loden in June 2012. It was one of 5 hotels we stayed at on a 3 week trip to US and BC. It was probably the worst experience of the 5 hotels. At check-in the receptionist could not be understood due to a strong accent. She neglected to give any advice about the way the security card worked to get to our room. The valet forgot to bring up our bags and they sat in the reception area until we phoned for them an hour after we arrived.
The room was nice and the bed was comfortable, particularly the pillows. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor (a design fault). The sharp edges on the fittings in the bathroom could be dangerous if someone slipped, particularly the soap dish on the wall in the bath.
We went to the restaurant for an early dinner at 6:15pm without a booking, and were told it would be at least 8:00pm before a table for 2 would be available. We sat at the bar and ate dinner there while we saw at least five tables set for two stay empty until we left the restaurant at about 8:15. The barman, however was very knowledgeable and gave us excellent service.
We also found the extra charges such as $35 plus 21% tax for parking and $15 for 24 hours wifi to be a bit excessive.
Overall, our experience was not what we expected from a top hotel, and we could not recommend it.

We recently stayed here for two nights. A wonderful hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

We had a corner room which was very light and airy and had an amazing bathroom.

Hotel is situated in a great location and we made use of the free bikes to cycle around Stanley Park - really worth doing.

Two small points to make - air conditioning is very noisy and the rooms really need coffee machines. Do not let these two small things put you off as this hotel is really worth a stay.

Room Tip: Try and get a corner room and make use of the free bikes

We stayed at this hotel in December 2011 to attend the Nutcracker Ballet performance - and also for a business meeting this month. Both stays were wonderful. There are several special packages to choose from that can suit anyone.

In December we chose the birthday special which included breakfast and internet and parking. The hotel has an old fashioned cool English taxi that will take you where you want to go (free!) in the downtown area. Our valet, Shaun, was wonderful - when we gave him incorrect directions, he found out where we were supposed to go while we relaxed in the back, and drove us there in good time! On return to our room we had a bottle of sparkling water and jellybeans. The room had a city view which was ok...it was dark early and we wouldn't have been able to see anything anyway.

This time round we paid extra for the internet (approx $14 for 24hrs), no jellybeans or sparkling water with our turndown service...but we did have breakfast and parking included and were put on the 10th floor with a view to the beautiful grounds in the neighboring apartment below: dogwoods in bloom - and the ocean with planes and boats coming and going. It is light out until 10 pm at this time of the year so a great bonus. Nice thing - the windows actually open!

The decor is beautiful. Down pillows are sooo comfy! The sheets are smooth and feel so expensive! I always have a problem with uncomfortable beds - but not here! I love the bathroom: the soaker tub is devine. Love the shower! Love the products!

You don't hear the traffic below at all. Melville is a quieter street so there isn't the noise that you might find on another street. These 2 stays we were not in a corner room. I prefer the layout of the corner room, if you get the chance....where the desk is in front of the windows.

The restaurant - Tableau Bar and Bistro - has a nice menu, although limited. Our starters: Tuna Nicoise and Leek & Cured Ham Salad. We had the Steak Frites : the meat was wonderful...tasty and tender. The frites were, well, french fries. Dessert: Ginger/vanilla Creme brulee - the best! The wine was wonderful, good selection and the after dinner drink: Stinger - to top off the night. The wait staff were awesome!

All in all, both stays were wonderful, and we are looking forward to our next time in town.

Room Tip: Corner rooms seem more spacious with the huge windows and the nice layout with the desk...it seems l...

The room is filled with many amenities, but it did not include an iron board or iron. As a business traveller, that is one thing that I expect in anything more expensive than a small travel lodge. Fortunately, I was attending the kind of conference where a few wrinkles don't bother anyone so I was able to get away without one, but I'm still a little shocked that a hotel of this class didn't have one in the room.

I did not call the front desk to see if they could deliver one...I bet they would have, but I never had the chance.

Dear Arizonagull,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. It is unfortunate that you had to attend a conference with a few wrinkles and I would like to apologize for the inconvenience. Instead of offering an iron and ironing board in each of our guest room, we offer compact garment steamers that fluff the fibers, giving them a soft, clean look that last longer. If you are looking more for a crisp look we can deliver an iron and ironing board to your room by calling our experience assistant at the front desk. We look forward to having you stay with us soon.

Very comfortable room and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Two irritants though. It is ridiculous that a hotel of this caliber charges for internet - thankfully Bell 3G signal was sufficient so I didn't need it but come on $15/day for sub standard internet.
The breakfast while acceptable was of the quality that I would have expected to be included in the price of the room - most boutique hotels don't charge for a continental breakfast.
