Great hotel, rooms, decor, ammenities..but the real difference is a suburb staff; better than any luxe hotel chain. They made our trip a joy; knew the city and all the various leisure activities. Great reccos on food, tours, car rentals that we would have not known about. Charlie and Sarah at the front desk were unbeatable, always going the extra mile, including exchanging a gift and mailing out to us after we departed.

You cant go wrong with this hotel..one of our best stays anywhere in the world!!

The design of this hotel is very modern without being cold. The rooms are very comfortable and cozy without succumbing to the starkness of many a modern design these days. The bathrooms are among the best hotel room bathrooms I have ever experienced--in my opinion being only matched by the best resort properties in Las Vegas. There is a large wood sliding wall that gives you the ability to open up the bathroom to the rest of the hotel room. The sink faces out and there is a floating mirror, which allows you to watch TV while shaving and primping. There is even a speaker in the ceiling of the bathroom that's connected to the TV's audio--a nice touch.

Now for a few gripes. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of offering up Ethernet ports, power outlets, and video connectors for the TV right on the back of the desk, but internet access and WiFi should be free in a hotel of this caliber. It's so annoying to have to pay for WiFi every single day when all I might need to do on a particular day is check my email or look up a restaurant. WiFi is more important than an in-room telephone or a TV, yet I have to pay for it? And speaking of TV, why bother to install gorgeous flat screens in every room and then hook up low-def analog cable to them? This is not the first luxury hotel I've seen with this problem, but I expected more from a hotel that had it's building recently completed from the ground up. Any hotel over 3 stars should have digital high definition cable and an onscreen program guide. I guarantee that anyone who can afford to stay at this property abandoned the Preview Channel at least 5 years ago at their own residence, so I don't appreciate being made to stare at a non-interactive scrolling program listings when I'm on vacation.

We stayed a single night at the Loden on our way back from Vancouver Island. Our flight was delayed multiple times, and the people at the Loden handled everything flawlessly. They changed dinner reservations at last minute, and greeted my wife with a big "Happy Birthday" at the door as we arrived at 10PM. The location is very central for Vancouver. The rooms are modern and stylish. The service and staff made it perfect.

Probably the nicest and most welcoming staff - right down to housekeeping. Rooms were really lovely, well-appointed, comfortably with GREAT beds and fabulous linens. The only bummer is the overnight parking fee and you are stuck with it.

Very nice boutique hotel.

This was my 1st trip to Vancouver. The hotel was convenient to the convention center and to the shops and restaurants on Robeson and Thurlow Streets.

Some comments:

Staff: Very friendly and helpful staff. Always smiling and very responsive to requests.

Room: Quiet, clean, and modern. King-sized bed was comfortable. Bathroom was beautiful but almost too edgy for its own good. Some examples: The sink was very shallow and the faucet looped up and curved over the middle of the sink. It was very pretty to look at, but the result was that it was impossible to wash my face without splashing water everywhere. Also, the separate shower stall was beautiful, but it leaked water onto the bathroom floor during every shower. As I don't have to maintain this bathroom, it was OK, but this wouldn't last long in a home environment. The room had two bathrobes, a yoga mat, and a hairdryer, but no iron/ironing board. Called down for one and it was delivered immediately.

Location: On a quiet street on Melville. Two/three Starbucks very close by. Close to shops and restaurants. Easy walk to things in downtown. Hotel provides free courtesy shuttle to things downtown. Cabs are plentiful.

Fitness Center: Adequate...I used the treadmill every day and had no complaints.

Business Center: Cramped...basically a closet with a computer and printer...seems like an afterthought.

Bar/Restaurant: Smallish and quiet. I had a beer here before dinner elsewhere. No complaints.

Overall: I was impressed...the staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. The room was very nice. I would definitely stay here again if ever in Vancouver.

Loved the hotel!! It was amazing service. Everything the staff recommended was great. They were a class act-even comped an appetizer at a restaurant they made reservations for us. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. We highly recommend it and would absolutely stay there again. Great value but luxury.
