“Busy Sunday Night But they Hit It Out of the Park”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Seven of us went for dinner at 6:00 PM and the place was packed. Four adults and 3 kids and offering a kid's menu was a nice touch. Half-sized portions at half the price. A couple of us had the Ultimate and with the food you get, the price is comparable to having all the appetizers and seafood with steak anywhere else in the City. Some may look at the prices and think expensive, but just think what you pay for a good steak and an appy of seafood somewhere else.
All the meals were great - tasty and hot - and of course the exhibition is well worth it. Lots of fun.
The fried rice was "yummy"
Thanks for a nice time and meal.

“I feel like I was "taken"”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I took my fiancé & our 6 kids to Kobe for my daughter's 14th birthday. It falls on Mother's Day and we had a problem with our reservation at another restaurant, so I was grateful that they took us in last minute. Although there were 8 of us, my daughters wanted to share a meal (the CHEAPEST meal on the menu is chicken for $40). They said it wasn't allowed, each person MUST order an entrée. I noticed on the menu they have a 'split' charge, but it's $20!! The meal was mediocre, the teppanyaki chef was also mediocre. My son ordered coke & they asked him twice if he wanted a refill. The bill included 3 cokes - not cool. The bill, which totalled $497 (unbelievable!), included a mandatory 20% tip for this mediocre meal. So the prices are inflated because you get a 'live chef", then they overcharge on tip because the 'live chef' hands you your meal. For a family of 8, this is a ridiculous price. I would never, ever recommend this restaurant!

“Great Food and Entertainment!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

I have been going to the Kobe Steakhouse at least annually for over 35 years because it continues to be a great place for food, atmosphere and entertainment. Even though "Raz" has retired they have found a way for regulars and new customers to feel welcomed. We were at the Kobe's this weekend for my friend's nine year old son and by the look on his face when the chef lights the onion volcano on fire, it is an experience he will remember for years to come. The steak and tiger prawns is the "staple" for this place but if you are feeling hungry, go for the Emperor! They also now have REAL Kobe beef on the menu, very pricey but the real deal. You can also find coupons in the Entertainment Book.

“Be entertained during dinner”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

We returned to the Kobe Japanese Steak and Seafood House in Vancouver after 10 years as we had a great experience there on another visit. This is a tepanyaki restaurant and lo behold it was still going strong. Our group of three did not have a booking but it was not a problem at 6.30pm on a Wednesday night although the restaurant filled up quickly with locals, mostly 30 year olds or families.

The choices on the menu are typical of tepanyaki restaurants and after ordering our set meals, the chef showed up to cook it.He was entertaining with his dry sense of humour and was skilful enough at the hot plate to enthral the family that shared our table.

The food was fresh and of good quality but the chef overcooked the lobster and medium rare steak requests. The set menu came with a soup, prawn starter, steamed rice, vegetables and dessert which was a choice of ice cream or a piece of fruit. Fried rice was extra which is not the case with many other tepanyaki places.

We had a nice evening mostly because were catching up with our friend - the restaurant ambience was pleasant but I would pronounce the meals average this time around. The bill was Canadian $210 (without tips) for two sets of of steak and lobster, one of lobster, a beer and three non-alcoholic drinks.
