This trip is difficult if you are not accustomed to logging roads. The road is steep and bumpy, it is not paved, and if you go in the winter you may find a snow and ice-covered trail. If you don't have a 4x4 don't try it. If you break down, you will not have anyone to help you.
It is an active logging area, so watch for logging trucks. Have your own winch, or at the very least a tow rope. Let people know where you are going, plot your route in advance, and bring extra gas, just in case. You will not have cell phone service.
The trip itself is the fun part, you will see Clayoquot Sound's rugged forest and beautiful vistas.
The falls are quite nice, but definitely not worth the journey if you don't know what you're getting into.
There are no signs for Virgin Falls, would suggest getting a Backroads Maps book.
